A/N: Sorry for taking so long to post this chapter, school had me very busy and distracted with projects and tests. I'll try to start writing a little more regularly (during the weekends). Can't wait for Spring break though I need to catch up more on my sleep and reading. You'll also probably see more updates during that break. Until then enjoy.
Amia
My eyes followed Emma's pacing form as she continued to move across my carpet. I was sitting on my bed petting Leo behind his ear while he sat on my lap purring and rubbing against me, but I knew Emma's nervousness was starting to annoy him.
"Geez if she keeps that up she'll eventually burn a mark into the carpet." Leo whined looking away 'innocently' when Emma stopped pacing for a moment to glare at him before she started again. Okay now I was getting annoyed. Sighing I nudged Leo off my lap, despite his cries of protest, and walked over towards Emma. I placed my hands on her shoulders to stop her movements.
"Emma you need to calm down, I understand that you're worried about what to do about Elliott, but you have to relax or else we'll never figure out what our next step will be."
She sighed heavily but smiled at me and nodded. Good at least that's settled.
"Okay you're the love expert so what should we do?"
Oh she actually expected me to know what to do next? Well this was awkward. "I've never been in love before nor I have I had to ever deal with love since you're my first client so I'm actually the least experienced person with love." I admitted a little sheepishly my cheeks pink. Emma's expression fell once she realized that I wasn't joking.
"A cupid that inexperienced with love, great just my luck." She groaned collapsing onto the plush couch her face pressed against a soft pillow. "Wait Amia when the hell did you do all this to my basement?!"
"Wow it's now you noticed, I'm so happy that our human is so observative." Leo mocked from on top the dresser. Emma stuck her tongue out at him and threw the pillow that she had previously been holding to her chest at him.
"Play nice you two." I scolded as Leo jumped down from dresser just before the pillow could hit him.
"She started it." Leo huffed
"I don't care, anyways sorry Emma but I had to modify the basement to make it fit for Leo and I to live in, but don't worry it'll only stay like this until we leave unless you want it stay like this."
Emma looked around the room, I had added a few things while she was upstairs changing and getting a snack. I added a flat screen T.V along with some video games and game systems (at Leo's request) and I created a door in the floor that led to a room where I kept all my magic stuff, aka my temporary makeshift lab. Eventually she smiled and nodded, "I like it so do whatever you want as long as my parents don't mind but I'm pretty such your magic has already persuaded them."
I smiled at her choosing not to confirm or deny her last statement, "I'm glad you like, you're welcome to hang out here whenever you want as long as I'm not busy."
"Add a mini fridge and you'll definitely see me glued to your couch."
I added the request to the corner of my mind as I sat down next to her on the couch.
"So why don't you tell me about how you became friends with Kaden and Elliott, that might help me get an understanding on how to deal with him."
"We went to one of those schools that have pre-kindergarten through 8th grade and now we're all going to the high school that is associated with that school, so it's only natural that we're all still friends. I came to the school in 6th grade during the middle of the year when everybody had already made their cliques and chosen their best friends so I was alone most of the time. But one day we had to choose partners for a project and everyone else instantly chose their partners while I just sat quietly and accepted that no one wanted me, and when the teacher noticed that I didn't have a partner she asked if anyone wanted me in their group- no one said yes. But then Elliott and Kaden said that they'll take me; I was so happy that they wanted me and when we were the only ones that got a 100% Kaden actually smiled a little, then Elliott started smiling so hard that later he told us that his cheeks hurt, and before I knew it I was smiling too."
Emma paused and smiled at the fond memory she couldn't see it but as a CIP I could see that she was glowing with the affection that she felt for them. When humans are thinking about or looking at someone or something they love then they started to admit a glow that brightens up their whole being. It was always a beautiful sight to see. Sadly I didn't get to relish in the look of the glow because soon she began to pick back up from where she left off so her attention draw away from that memory which caused the light to dim.
"From then one it was always the three of us, but I'm not as close with them as they are with each other since I met them a long time after they'd become friends. Which I've always found weird since they're so different, like Kaden is so antisocial and closed off I think you're the first new person he's talked to since freshman year when he had no choice. Meanwhile Elliott is so social and hyper, which is adorable, but they're still really close."
I hummed at thought of how close they sounded; since I've been training my whole life in the Cupid realm I didn't really have time to really make friends. I've only ever had Leo, Lady Flora, and Carter as company. Carter. My heart clenched at the thought of him, I missed him. When I realized that I had let my mind wondered over to trivial things I quickly brought us back to the topic at hand.
"Well enough about the past, don't you think it's time to brainstorm a plan?"
Emma nodded and sat up from her spot on the couch; we made scenarios and 'battle tactics' about what to do if these scenarios came true, watched videos about dating, checked blogs that talked about love and crushes, and then watched a bunch of clique romantic movies. All this led to one result: nothing.
"I can't believe we still don't have a plan on what to do about Elliott." Emma's voice came out muffled since she was face down on my couch while I sat on the bed fiddling with some potions.
"Well the one thing that they all seem to mention is for you to 'be honest and be yourself' but I guess that doesn't really help us much since that's what you've been doing this whole time."
"EXACTLY! So why does he have a different image of me in his mind?!" Emma exclaimed loudly, but her scream was absorbed by the pillow, which I was suddenly thankful for. After grumbling under her breath for a good solid two minutes Emma turned her attention towards me.
"What are you doing over there?"
"Nothing really I'm just fooling around with some small potions- I tend to do that whenever I'm bored."
"Oh right you're an A rank so you're skilled at these type of things. What can these potions do?"
"Well it depends on the potion, some potions can be dangerous and some can be as harmless and fun. Like these over here for example, this purple on can help you sleep if you're insomniac without making you addicted like prescription drugs can and it's more effective than tea. The blue one can help give you nothing but happy, good dream for weeks, but this red one that I'm making can cause someone to fall madly in love with you temporally."
"Whoa really? That's pretty scary you can force someone to like someone so easily?"
"Yes it is pretty scary, but thankfully it's only temporary. Do you want to use it on Elliott?"
"Oh my God, what the hell Amia no!? I want him love me because he loves me not because of a potion!" She yelled standing up from the sofa.
I sighed relieved, that's good she passed, "It's okay Emma that was a test to see if your feelings were true. If you had said yes then I would have deemed you unfit of my help and would have broken our contract."
Emma sighed as well her body collapsing on the couch, "Damn-it don't do that to me! I actually thought that you were serious jeez my respect for you almost just shattered completely."
"Sorry but you understand now right, there are some very dangerous magic out there that can really hurt and mess up people. However not all magic is bad some can be very helpful."
We sat in silence as she let my words set in eventually we decided to handle things with Elliott tomorrow then we said good night and when to bed. As I lied in bed that night my mind began to rewind our conversation from earlier. Then bit by bit I began to form a plan; it was a little risky but it just might work if done properly. Tomorrow I'll make sure we put this plan into action.
