I just want to start out by saying this book took over two years to even think about writing. I had had the idea of it years ago, but I never went fully through with the plot. I never really had chapters written for it. It was a lost cause.
Then I watched Insidious, and suddenly, the sparks of ideas flew through my head. The two movies of inspiration were Insidious and the Entity. I highly recommend watching them if you like horror movies. The Entity is also based on a true story.
I had really thought this book would be gone forever. Another good idea down the trash because I had no true inspiration to write it.
I am so happy that I was able to muster up a great story out of it. Maybe it's not perfect, but it's one hell of a story. I did have a ton of troubles along the way. I had stopped writing around chapter four because I was stuck. It took me a month to figure out where I wanted to go with it. Soon after, I forced myself to look into it. I researched entities, ghosts, and similar supernaturals. That was all I needed to make the ideas start pumping.
Every story starts out with something thin, something small, something unfinished. You are the one that has to decide whether or not you want to keep going or let it rest. It's your story. People can't see your drafts. People can't see your ideas. People can't hear your story. Not until you write it out.
Have patience with yourself. If you truly want to pursue a story, work for it. You can find inspiration in anything. Whether it be a real scene from your life or an idea from a book, movie, or song.
I truly hope you guys enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing. It was a long process, but we made it through. Thank you for all of the love and support.
