"What the hell are you doing?!" Elena exclaimed in anger, backing away from Rumple as they landed on the island. "You just left them all behind! How am I supposed to find them - we need to stick together!"
"No, we don't," Rumple said, walking briskly through the forests of the land with Elena picking up her pace to catch up with him. "That would've never worked."
"Then why did you take me?" Elena persisted.
"I said, you might be of some use. A distraction, if required." He then stopped in his tracks, looking down to the ground, and Elena gasped in shock as she caught sight of Demara, an arrow deep in her back as she struggled to crawl, taking gasping breaths.
"So where is he? Henry?" Rumple said simply, his eyes dark as he stopped Elena from crouching down to her.
She looked up at him weakly, her body trembling.
"Now, now. I can help you speak." And in one slow motion, his magic healed her wound. Elena bit her lip in nervousness, watching as the arrow disappeared from its previous position.
"Thank you," she breathed.
"Where's Henry? They killed him?" Rumple said again.
"I don't think so," she answered, "I told him to run, and he did."
"Where?"
"The jungle," she replied, pointing slightly and trying to sit up. "Pan wants him. He's behind all this... look, Mr Gold," she started, looking to him earnestly, "I didn't know who I was working for. I'm sorry about Neal. I'm so sorry..." her voice broke off, and Elena watched hesitantly as Rumple crouched in front of her.
Elena herself decided against it after a moment - although she knew that Demara's intentions weren't all bad, she had still allowed Neal to die. Neal, who was like a father to her, ever since he had met her and Emma, attempting to steal a car. Tears pricked at the memory, and she blinked hard, not allowing them to get the better of her. Not now, when she had Henry to go after.
"I know," Rumple said, "you were merely a pawn..."
"Can.. can you forgive me?" she whispered, and Elena watched for his reaction.
"No," he answered suddenly, and Demara gasped in pain as Rumple ripped out her heart. Elena's eyes widened in alarm, watching helplessly as the Dark One crushed the glowing red in one move.
Elena's body shook, and she staggered backwards in horror before sprinting away as fast as she could, not daring to look back. She ran for ages, in shock at what she'd just witnessed, finally taking a break and leaning against a tree amidst the thick jungle. Elena tried hard to steady her breathing, organise her thoughts, create some kind of plan. Pulling back her hair from her face, she thought everything through.
Find Emma and the others... or keep going after Henry? Rumple himself had seemed intimidated by Pan - whoever he was - and Rumple was the Dark One. But how would she find Emma here, alone and lost on an unfamiliar island?
"Far from home, aren't you, lost girl?"
Elena jumped and spun around, taken aback by a tall, blonde-haired boy wearing a dark cloak and holding a short staff. She glared at him in awareness, unsure of how to react.
"Who are you?"
"The real question is, who are you?" the boy returned, scanning her face with an unreadable expression. "And what's someone like you doing so deep in Neverland... alone?"
"I'm not alone," Elena snapped, "my family is coming. We're getting Henry back."
The boy scoffed in disbelief. "You're not getting the boy. You," he continued, approaching her and immediately binding her wrists with rope, tying them in swift movements as she struggled in fury, "are coming with me. Have to say, He's very interested to see who it is that came to this island, ever since he sensed a new arrival."
