Colby
Sam and I walked along the narrow pathway as little specks of dust left the floor.
"It's hard to believe this place is abandoned," Sam said.
"I should hope it is, Sam. The last thing I want to see is a child in front of us." I joked, pushing his arm playfully.
"You mean like that?" Sam said pointing in front of us.
I looked to where he was pointing, my heart sinking at the sight. "Sam," I said slowly and quietly. "We need to go."
"Why?"
"There's a whole group of people down there." Said I. Just like that someone turned and looked and Sam and I.
"Colby, run." Sam ordered.
Sam and I took off running and yelling started behind us. You could hear them chasing after us.
They were getting closer and louder. My heart began pounding. "Baby, you go. I'll hold them back." Sam said, pushing me forwards to make me run faster.
I wanted to stop but I couldnt. My heart was pounding like crazy and I kept running. My eyes filled with tears as I heard Sam scream.
His voice pierced through me. I stopped and turned to him. "I love you Colby. Promise me you'll keep running and never look back." Sam called out.
I didn't want to but I promised as I took off running faster. I legged it out of the entrance all the way home.
Once I got back, I jumped into bed, pulling the sheets over my head, shaking.
"He's fine. Everything is fine. He is alive," I said repeatedly to myself.
I grabbed a nearby photo on the bedside table, holding it close to me. It was a photo of Sam and I.
"He's okay. He has to be okay!" My whole body was shaking.
Suddenly I heard a loud banging at the door. I jumped out of bed and ran to the front door. When I reached for the handle I stopped. What if they followed me home?
I heard four knocks, a thing Sam always did. I opened the door and Sam flew into my arms.
"Sam!" I screamed as I pulled him inside. "What happened to you?" I asked curiously as his shirt was ripped and blood left his lip.
"I was able to escape but my shirt got caught in a tree branch and I ended up falling down a hill but I'm fine. We are never going there again," Sam explained.
"You said it, baby." I grabbed Sam's hand as I walked him into the kitchen. I grabbed a cotton bud and alcohol, dosing the cotton with the liquid before holding Sam's shoulder with one hand while my other gently placed the cotton on his split lip.
He groaned in pain but that soon faded. I tore his shirt off throwing it in the trash cleaning the wounds.
His body was hot and covered in bruises. "You're my hero, Sam." I spoke as I cleaned the blood from his wounded shoulder.
"I wouldn't let anything happen to you," he said.
"I know, baby. I know." Said I with love lacing my voice as I pulled him in for a hug.
"I'm just happy you're okay," I replied.
Sam pushed me against the kitchen wall, his eyes staring deep in mine. "I'll be better I can treat you." I smiled and our lips locked with one another. "Would you let me treat you, baby boy?"
