Quick A/N before the chapter!
Thank you so much for 200 reads! I wrote this story out of pure selfishness tbh and an honest need for an Ellie x Reader than wasn't just following the plot of tlou2. I love the game so much and there aren't very many Ellie fanfics out there and I think she's wonderful. So thank you for reading and validating my love for Ellie Williams lol.
Love you guys !

Ellie's P.O.V~
When I awoke (YN) was not lying in my arms as she was merely hours ago. I groaned feeling the bed near me, still warm. I shot out of bed looking at the clock on my nightstand. 10:27 AM. I pulled on one of my gray hoodies and jogged out to the living room. And there she was, sitting on the couch. A book in her hands, and a cup of tea on the coffee table beside her. I let out a loud sigh, causing her to look up from her book.
"Good morning Ellie." She smiled softly up at me. (YN) was alive and here. She had stayed with me, tears welled in my eyes. She quirked a brow up at me and set her book down. "Ellie?" The way (YN) said my name made my knees shake.
"You stayed." Was all I could think to say. (EC) orbs glassed over, (YN) stood up and walked over to me. She was wearing one of my hoodies she probably pillaged from my closet. She wrapped her arms around my waist, pulling me to her. I tried to avoid her injured shoulder as I hugged her back.
"I thought about it. Leaving to keep you safe. Then I thought about if she tried to get to you. Just to hurt me and because I wasn't here you got hurt, I figured it was for the best." (YN) confessed, tensing in my arms. I wasn't angry, far from it. All I could feel right now was relieved she had stayed, and my heart sped up at the fact she stayed for me.
"If you had gone I would've looked for you. Everywhere. No matter how long it took." I whispered into her hair that shone in the light.  I felt her hold on to me a little bit tighter before pulling away.
"Thank you Ellie." (YN) murmured. I couldn't take my eyes off hers. She is so beautiful, even if I dedicated the rest of my life to drawing I don't think I'd ever be able to truly capture her beauty. Naturally when I told her this she laughed at me and kissed my cheek.
"Want to go shopping around town? You're gonna need some more clothes if you're gonna be staying here in Jackson." I offered, the hope rising in my chest.
"I was really hoping to keep stealing your hoodies, I've grown quite attached to this one." (YN) joked, punching my shoulder softly. I scoffed pretending to be wounded, staggering back. And her laughter was the best sound I'd heard in years.

One month later

Your P.O.V
It's been a month or so since you decided to stay in Jackson with Ellie. You never did get your own house, You thought it was stupid to have a whole separate building for just you. You and Atlas went on patrol with Ellie and Shimmer every morning, different routes to keep things interesting. You've had a few close calls with infected but nothing too desperate.
There was no sign of Abby and her gaggle of evil friends. You knew someday they'd strike, there's no way a woman as vengeful as Abby would just back off. The woman with the braided hair haunted your dreams most nights. Sometimes it was you she carved up in the name of revenge of her friends you killed that night, sometimes it was Ellie and she made you watch. Tonight, it was Ellie. Even though the woman slept beside you in the bed you shared, it didn't keep the tremor from your hands.
You sat up, staring out the bedroom window. It was a full moon tonight. The snow had stopped for the most part, no huge blizzards since the one that brought you to stay in Jackson longer than expected. You leaned your back against the headboard pulling your knees to your chest, moving carefully to avoid Ellie. You took your eyes off of the moons beautiful face to stare down at her. Auburn hair splayed on her pillow and her mischievous green eyes fluttered shut. The two of you never stated what you were to each other. Stolen kisses and shy smiles here and there, but never that final step. You didn't even know what to call her, your best friend but more. You shared a bed with her, fuck you shared a home with her. But you were scared to ask her if you were her girlfriend or not.
Dina teased you about it relentlessly. Whenever you saw the beautiful dark haired woman she asked if Ellie was yours and vice versa. Ellie had your heart for sure, but did she really want it was the question. You were scared that after she knew everything you had done she wouldn't want you. But Ellie stayed. You leaned down kissing her forehead softly.
"I love you." She mumbled in her sleep. You froze. Usually now was the time you crept away to the living room to read a book in hopes of escaping your fears, sometimes you'd peak in Ellie's almost full journal. But tonight, you unfolded yourself and delicately slid closer to the absolute space heater Ellie was.
In the morning when Ellie's alarm clock began to shriek to alert you that it was time to go on patrol. Ellie groaned in protest making you giggle. You crawled over her to hit the off button.
"Fuck I don't want to get up." Ellie complained putting her pillow over her face. You laughed getting out of bed hitting her with your own pillow.
"Come on El. We gotta get up, Jesse will never let us live it down if we're late." You pleaded. Ellie took the pillow off her face sitting up in bed.
"What did you call me?" She asked raising her eyebrow with the scar in it. You let out a nervous laugh.
"El?" You said nervously. "Oh my god, you hate it. I'll have to come up with something else to call you then." You wiggled your eyebrows at her. Ellie stood up from bed now walking towards you. Your heart rate quickened as she neared. Ellie's face was so close to you, her green gaze flicking to your lips.
"And what would you call me?" She asked, her voice husky.
"Maybe I could call you my girlfriend?" You asked, you could feel your face turning red. Ellie closed the distance between you, capturing your lips with hers. Her hands on your hips she moved you backwards, when your back hit the wall a gasp escaped your lips. Ellie pulled away, but not too far.
"Yes." She said as she kissed your cheek. "Yes." She kissed the other. "Yes." Your nose. "Yes." Your forehead. Ellie peppered your face with kisses until you finally caught her lips again. Tangling your fingers in her hair, tugging her as close to you as you could. Ellie's tongue slipped into your mouth and you let a moan slip from your lips. Then someone banged on your door, Ellie growled against your mouth sending goosebumps down your arm.
"Fuck off Jesse!" Ellie yelled. You laughed slapping her shoulder delicately.
"You're gonna be late to patrol, Maria's in a mood so stop banging for a few hours just to patrol." Jesse yelled through the door. You laughed until your ribs hurt sending Ellie into a fit of laughter as well.
When you and Ellie emerged, Jesse was standing on the porch tapping his foot. Ellie's face was flushed and she was trying to hide a hickey on her neck. Jesse rolled his eyes leading the way to the stables. You and Ellie giggling and holding hands on the way.
Dina was waiting by the stables for her patrol with Jesse. When she saw your entwined fingers with the usually gruff Ellie she let out a squeal.
"You asked her?!" Dina eagerly asked you, grabbing your shoulders. You laughed at her excitement for you. Dina had become a rather dear friend to you over the last month. When Ellie was out trying to patch things with Joel or just out of Jackson when Maria sent her on patrol and without you.
"Obviously! Dina stop shaking me I'm gonna throw up." You cackled.
"I told you she'd say yes you moron." Dina pushed your shoulder gently. Ellie stepped in then, pretending to be serious. You could see her fighting the smile.
"Be careful with her Dina, that's my girlfriend." Ellie beamed. Dina groaned at that.
"You guys are already too cute. I'm glad you finally agreed to date. I thought Jackson was gonna catch fire with all the tension between you, which by that mark on Ellie's neck has already lessened." Dina teased. You and Ellie both flushed pink as you tried to ignore the flashes of Jackson burning down you dreamt of. Ellie squeezed your hand before opening the stable door for you.
"Oh come on, leave the love birds alone D. We gotta get to patrol before Maria shoots us." Jesse said settling Dina with a scolding look. She rolled her eyes at him heading for her beautiful horse.
You approached Atlas with a grin. The stallion whinied at you as you patted his snout. You kissed his nose and reached into your back pack pulling out an apple you snuck from the Tipsy Bison. Atlas happily crunched away, Shimmer snorting from the stall next to him. Ellie was already saddling her lovely mare up, watching you with Atlas. You pulled out a second Apple feeding it to Shimmer sneakily.
"(YN) saddle him up, you can sneak them treats when we're out of Jackson." Ellie teased you. You scoffed feigning hurt. But did as she said. Finally ready, the two of you headed out into the woods. You  beamed at Ellie in the morning light and she grinned back, and today your mind didn't drift towards the woman with the braid.
