After a couple of moments of silence, the front door slammed downstairs, Mrs. Malfoy jumped up from the bed and ran out of the room. Confused, I ran after her and stopped once I saw who it was. Lucius Malfoy was smiling like a mad man.
" It's happening, Narcissa, it's happening!" Lucius yelled up the stairs
" Lucius, we have guests," Narcissa scolded as she ran downstairs to quiet down her husband.
" What? Who?" Lucius asked annoyed
" Lily," Narcissa whispered.
" Oh, well, she has to know already," Lucius laughed.
Before I could try and listen to anything else, Draco popped out of his room.
" Father, Lily's eavesdropping," Draco called, smirking at me.
I turned around to glare at Draco, but Lucius called to us downstairs before I could do any serious damage.
" Downstairs now, both of you," Lucius yelled angrily.
We headed down the stairs in silence.
" Eavesdropping, are we Lily? Your father should have taught you that's very disrespectful," Lucius said cooly.
" I'm sorry, Mr. Malfoy," I said with my head down.
Lucius lifted my head with his cane, so I had to look at him, " Are you really sorry, Lily?"
" Yes, I am," I said, as tears started to form in my eyes.
" Father, she said she was sorry," Draco said, now starting to get in between his father and me.
Lucius raised his eyebrow, dropped the cane, and turned to Draco.
" Draco, do not speak to me like that; I am your father, not one of your school friends," Lucius said, raising his voice; Lucius then picked up his cane to strike his son.
"No!" I said, running in front of Draco.
I squeezed my eyes as the cane came down and struck me across the face; the force of the hit was so strong I fell onto the floor. Tears started to fall down my cheeks as I held onto my face.
" Lucius!" Mrs. Malfoy said as she knelt to help me off the floor
Draco and Lucius both looked down at me in shock.
" Stupid girl," Lucius muttered as he walked away towards his bedroom.
Draco still stood and looked at me, glued to where he was standing.
"Lily dear, I'll get you some ice," Mrs. Malfoy said as she rushed off towards the kitchen.
Draco and I stood in silence until Mrs. Malfoy came back.
"Draco darling, could you take Lily up to her room and make sure she's alright? I'm going to try and talk with your father," Mrs. Malfoy said, forcing a smile.
Draco gave a little nod and started to walk up the stairs; I followed quickly behind him.
When we got to the bedroom, he closed the door behind us as I sat on the bed, pressing the ice onto the bruise now starting to form on my face.
" My father was right," Draco said, looking at the door.
" About what?" I said, setting the ice on the bed
" You are stupid," Draco said, now glaring at the door.
" Thanks, Draco," I said, annoyed.
" He was supposed to hit me, not you," Draco said angrily.
" I know, I just didn't want you to get hurt for something I did," I said, looking at Draco.
Draco now turned to look at me " So you go and hurt yourself instead?"
" I guess," I shrugged, chuckling" Ow, that hurt," I said, grabbing the ice.
Draco laughed and grabbed the ice from me " Here, let me help," He said, scooting closer.
He pressed the ice to my face and smiled; I smiled back and placed my hand next to his. Draco looked down at my hand and laughed. My cheeks immediately got red as I pulled it away quickly.
" Oh, um, sorry, I just," I said, flustered. Why did I think he would want to hold my hand? I thought to myself.
Before I could say anything else, he reached for my hand and held it looking at me.
" It's fine, Lily," Draco said as he slid closer.
Draco and I were face to face; his once cold gray eyes had softened as they focused on my lips. I leaned forward slowly, eager for his lips to meet mine.
Suddenly the door swung open to reveal Lucius Malfoy, Draco quickly got up from the bed, and I joined him, waiting for a lecture from Draco's Father.
" Draco, leave Lily and me alone for a moment," Lucius said, glaring at me.
" Father I-" Draco started to say but was quickly cut off by his father.
" Draco, leave NOW!" Lucius yelled
Draco turned to look at me worried, I gave him a little nod and watched him leave the room.
Lucius shut the door behind him and locked it.
" Sit, Lily," Lucius said, not breaking eye contact.
I sat down on the bed scared, should I run for it? What do I do if something bad happens? My mind was racing with what was going to happen to me.
" Lily, you got in the way of me trying to discipline Draco," He said
" That wasn't disciplining Mr. Malfoy; that was abuse," I said confidently.
" IT WAS NO-" Lucius started to yell, inching towards me
I got up from the bed and ran towards the corner of the room.
" My apologies, my temper got ahold of me," Lucius said, still walking towards me.
I didn't know what to say, my legs had locked, and I forbade myself not to utter a word.
Mr. Malfoy now got incredibly close to me as he bent down to whisper in my ear, " If you say anything to your father about tonight, I'll make sure Draco won't be able there to see it."
" You wouldn't do that to your son," I said, trembling.
Mr. Malfoy backed up to look at me " Try me, Lily."
I looked back up at him, scared, would he?..
