*I cried writing this so enjoy because the ends a little sad. Sorry in advance.*
Deep, heavy breathes could be heard all through the building as Louis was sat at the old oak table in the kitchen. He didn't know why he was so nervous, why he was so anxious. He was about to marry the love of his life he was supposed to be excited right?
The tapping of his nails on the wood and his foot on the floor were in sync, he couldn't control it no matter how hard he tried to. His eyes continued to skim over the piece of paper before getting annoyed, crumpling it up and throwing it to the other end of the room. Taking his head in his hands with only the harsh tiks of the clock to steady his thoughts.
He was like that for a good five ten minutes until the door opened, "mate?!" it was Liam again. Louis really couldn't be dealing with another one of his useless 'talks' - he just wanted to be left in peace but he knew that it wasn't going to happen now. "What do you want Payno, y'know that name really does suit you. You're such a fucking pain in the arse."
"Two things. One, what the fuck is wrong with you today-", his words cut short with the brutal bang of a chair hitting the floor. Louis just merely footsteps away from his bestfriend, "you wanna know what the fuck is wrong with me, do you?"
"I'd love to know."
"Okay well first of all I'm sick and tired of you. Always in me ear constantly, Louis you need this, Louis don't forget that. Like seriously I have a fucking brain Liam, I know what I need and what I don't, you really don't need to remind me 24/7 like I'm a kid."
"I was just tryna hel-", the younger lad cut short again by Louis' harsh voice.
"Help? Is that what you call it? You lot keep nagging me like for god sake its my wedding. Do you not think m'nervous enough without yous making me more anxious like imma fuck it all up and ruin the whole day."
There was a moment of tension filled silence before Louis piped up again.
"Can you just go."
"No."
"Liam I swear just fuck off."
"Louis I'm not leaving you in this state."
"What state? I'm fine, perfectly fine."
"Louis," before he could finish there was a knock on the door, "come in."
It was Lottie, the boys presumed she heard the screaming match and was asked to check on us, "What is it love.""They're ready for you in the barn."
"Right."He walked over, picking the piece of paper up on the way out.
As he was standing at the alter waiting for his fiancé, he couldn't help the million thoughts running through his head. 'Was he ready?' 'Was this really what he wanted?' 'Was he just lying to himself for the sake of Harry?' But his thoughts were interrupted by the oos and ohs of the guests. Looking up from his entangled fingers to see Harry.
Louis couldn't believe how beautiful he looked, the suit fitted perfectly around every inch of him. The tie fitting perfectly with it, with his curls hung softly just below his shoulders. They locked eyes, Louis masking his scared face with a fake smile.
The crunch beneath Harry's shoes quickly irritated Louis. They're petals, why are they so bloody loud? His eyes trying to stay fixed with his loves green ones. It was hard though, Louis could barely breathe. He just wanted to run out of the building and get fresh air but he couldn't because now standing in front of him was his husband to be.
"Hi," Harry whispered shyly.
"Hi," Louis replied, there was that fake smile again.
"You okay?"
"Huh?"
"You look a little pale, are you sick?"
"No no, don't worry. m'fine" not believing himself one bit.
As it got to the vows, he began to shake, not being able to steady himself and fumbling with his paper. Harry gave him a confused look as Louis started which just made him more anxious.
"Right uh erm" he took a deep breath trying again, "Ha-Haz um I er I p-promise t-to erm ah ok um lets try again I promise to shit sorry-"
"Lou" Harry said grasping the other mans shoulders to look him in the eyes, "you're okay mhm"
"No I'm not, sorry I-I can't sorry" with that he was running out of the doors, inhaling the cold air.
"Louis what the fuck?" a deep Cheshire accent had followed him.
"I'm so sorry Harry."
"For what?" he knew what for, he just didn't want to hear it.
"I can't"
"Lou don't"
"m'sorry haz I just I can't"
"Lou please," by this point the 22 year old was now crying.
"I can't do it Harry"
"The wedding be-because we can call it off if that's what you want, Louis just please don't?" he choked between sobs.
"Harry it's not just the wedding, it's all of this" he gestured between them both, "I can't do this."
"What the fuck?"
"So fucking sorry."
"No Louis you don't get to be sorry, i just want an explanation. Anything?"
"I just, I can't"
"You can't what Louis? Explain why you choose to break my heart today of all days, on our wedding day. You don't think I deserve an explanation?"
"You do, I just don't have one that won't hurt you anymore."
"Just tell me Louis" by this point they were both screaming.
"No."
"Tell me!"
"No."
"Yes, if you love me then you'll tell me."
Everything fell silent before realisation struck Harry, you could tell by how his face changed.
"That's it, isn't it. You don't love me anymore" the shy whisper had returned.
There was no response on Louis end. He was still processing it all.
"You promised me"
"m'so sorry"
"Please stop saying sorry, please. You promised me three and a half years ago ago at that dining table that you was gonna give me the world. You promised me you would love me forever and always. You promised me as you held my hands to your heart that I would always have a place in there and that it would always be me and you. You and me against the world. What changed?"
"I know I did but Harry I was barely out of my teenage years, I didn't understand fully what I was saying."
"Did you ever love me. When you pulled out the ring when it was snowing and you got down on one knee and said you wanted to make me yours. When you took me on our first date and told me sweet nothings. When we were fooling around on stage. When you wrote those songs about me. Did you ever love me?"
"I don't know. I really don't know and I wish i did but I don't."
"Right."
"I loved you Louis, I still do. I love you so much it's physically and emotionally painful. I love you so much I didn't know it was possible. I didn't know I was capable of loving someone as much as I do you. That's scary. So so scary. I would put my heart on the line just to save yours, I would take a thousand bullets for you. I would let you rip it to shreds, stamp on it whatever. Because. Because I fucking love you Louis William Tomlinson. But, you don't love me and I guess I was just dumb and naive to think that you did ay?" With tears rushing down his face, his eyes bloodshot and swollen he turned to walk back into the barn, stopping to say one last thing, "I promised you the world and I fucking meant it but hey not all of us get our happy endings."
