Nohr's Captain Silas

The days felt blurred. I hardly remember them. The day after I read Xander's letter I felt like a ghost. I wanted to hate him so much for hiding the truth, but every time I tried I couldn't. Xander looked after me. Trained me with the way of sword. He was my brother even if we were not blood. He loved me just as much as I loved him. The next time I see him will be on the battlefield. I fear the outcome. That was days ago. It felt like a years not days.

Back to the present, I am sitting in my room. I don't know what to do. In time the voice in my head told me that I could be a wolf whenever I wanted to. The problem with that was I would scare a whole lot of people in the palace if I did so. The first time I was a wolf people stayed clear of me thinking I was the hound of hell coming to take souls. I think it was because of the eye that was red. In certain ways they made me fear that form. The form of a demon, I always said to myself. But some times when I was alone in my room or outside I shifted. There was this sense of freedom when I was a wolf. Maybe it's because I was never allowed pass the yard in the Nohrian fortress I was raised in, or maybe it was just me.

I was told I would be going to this fortress to help Sakura with something. Hinoka was to accompany me on the way there. The time upon Hinoka's Pegasus, Kleo it's name was. The wind and the endless sky was relieving. Well it would be if only I was not mildly afraid of heights. I knew Hinoka knew what she was doing, but I still felt afraid.

Hinoka dived down a bit and I freaked letting out a yelp higher then my usual voice. I gripped onto her tunic tighter. She let out a laugh. "You'll get used to it."

"No, no I don't think so." I replied. "Are we close? I feel like I'm going to vomit."

"Please don't. I don't feel like having to change my clothes at the moment." She paused before continuing. "You should be able to see. That's the eastern fortress." She said pointing. Good because I really need to get down.

The minute we were on the ground and I rushed to a near by tree to vomit. Hinoka came behind me and rubbed my back to help soothe me. "I'm walking home." I muttered between a retch. She chuckled.

"Sisters." Sakura quietly yelled. I heard her come behind me. "Are you okay?" She asked with concern.

I leaned my forehead against the tree. "Yeah I should be fine in just a minute."

"It seems she just can't take being in the sky." Hinoka joked. I glared at her before another wave of nausea ripped through me. Even thinking about it makes me sick.

"Never again." I said before straightening myself. As we walked toward the entrance of the fortress hoof beats rattled the ground. Hoof beats? Not many in Hoshido use horses. That could only mean...

"Yes, it seems that the enemy has come here."  The voice startled me and I slightly jumped.

Please don't do that. I said back to it. The voice only laughed.

"You will have to get used to me some time girl."

"Nohrians." Hinoka growled.

"Not good. There are no soldiers stationed here. The only ones that are around are people who were injured during the festival." I looked to Sakura hoping she was was wrong, because by the sound of it we were out numbered. "I'm going to get Hana and Subaki to help." She quickly rushed inside the building and left me and Hinoka.

I went to my side to draw my sword and then realized that during the rush this morning I left it. Great Jakob did warn me I will forget something and he was right. I had no choice but to use my wolf form. Hinoka drew her naginata.

"Ho, Kage is that you?" A man around my age with darker silver hair than Takumi's asked. He looked like a cow licked his hair to make it stand up.

"Who's asking?" I asked in return.

"It really is you. After all these years I finally see you again. I spent so long training to become a captain so I could see you again." I remained silent and wary of who this man was. He saw my hostile expression. "Don't you remember me? It's me Silas. We were best friends as children. You honestly don't remember me?" He looked down cast at the realization.

"No I don't." I shifted into my wolf form ready to fight.

"Princess Hinoka, Princess Kage. We have come here to assist you." A man with a pony tail and Pegasus riding gear said. Next to him a girl with dirty blonde hair and samurai armor stood.

"Subaki, Hana, thank  you for the assistance." Hinoka looked to me. "They are Sakura's retainers." I nodded.

"I guess regardless of our past we were destined to clash." Silas said.

The battle lasted longer than I expected but in time the four of us were able to bring all of the enemy down. The others went around but I stood face to face with the Nohrian captain.

"Go ahead. Kill me." Captain Silas said. I never raised my paw to strike him. Something about killing him just seemed wrong. "I lost the battle with honor. Now it is time for me to die with honor."

I shook my head. "I- I can't. You hesitated. It wasn't a fair fight. Gods I must be getting soft." I cursed. "Why did you hesitate? Was it because we were friends?"

"Uhh." He did that just because we knew each other? "I made an oath long ago. I intend to keep that oath. An oath I made to you."

"What oath?" I questioned.

"To protect you even if it meant to defy the orders of the King. Don't you remember?" He questioned me once more and soon I lost my patience. I raised my paw to strike. "The day I snuck you out of the fortress. We had so much fun that day. But when Prince Xander found out he had me sent to be executed. You saved my life that day. You begged them to spar my life even if it meant not seeing me again." I lowered my paw slowly back to the ground.

It felt as something just snapped back in my head. "Silas... Now I remember. You were the one who showed me the outside world for the first time. Silas... Yes I remember you now." His face glowed with happiness with my remembrance. I thought for a moment. I don't want to kill him, but if he returns to Nohr he will die.

"Make him one of yours. He said he made an oath willing to die for you."

For once you actually told me something useful.

"How dare..."

I cut the voice off. "Come join me here in Hoshido. Then you will be at my side and not be sent like a lamb to the slaughter in Nohr." I shifted into a human and offered my hand to him. Gods I have truly gone soft.

He smiled. "I think I'll like that." He said taking my hand.

"Lady Hinoka!" I saw Kaze and another that dressed similar to him but wearing a mask run up to us completely out of breath.

I stood next to her while they delivered to what seem like urgent news. The man with the mask spoke. "It's an emergency. It's Lord Ryoma and Lord Takumi have gone missing." My heart stopped. No. My brothers missing. I put my hand over my mouth to keep me from whimpering. "We were heading to Izomu and we were ambushed. I do not know what happened for I was knocked unconsciousness. As Lord Ryoma's retainer I should have done better."

"Don't beat yourself up about all this Saizo. Get Sakura we move as soon as possible to find them." Hinoka said moving to the fortress to hopefully gather supplies.

I felt as I could not breath. Silas put his hand on my shoulder. Yes I was worried, but I was more worried for Takumi than anything. Please be safe and alive both of you."
