(Narrator POV)

Papyrus springs up, looking around rapidly, expecting dust to cover every inch of reality. But instead, he is merely in his room. On top of his racecar bed.  His soul slowly stops beating against his ribcage, and he lets out a shaky breath.  He grips the covers, peering over at his window. The gentle glow the lamps posses have not yet reclaimed their full brightness, leaving a calm dimness settling over the small town of Snowdin. He tries to recall what happened after everything went dark, each time he remembers an extra little bit.

But this time there is nothing but a haze of darkness, and maybe the possibility of a smile buried within it.

He shutters, the memory of dozens of resets making themselves known. Maybe the fact he doesn't know which reset they are on now that shook him up so much. He had lost count a long time ago, and that thought makes his bones rattle.

How long has it been since the first reset?

He shakes his head, rising to his feet.

"Hm, maybe I'll go for a walk? Yes! Yes...that usually helps after a reset. I should go check on Sans first though." On shaky legs, he enters the hallway.

The lights are off, the shadows settled into their rightful spots.  Although without light the familiar surfaces have an amount of uncertainty. But that doesn't really concern him at the moment, he can deal with irrational fear of the dark later! His long strides easily take him across the hallway, and he cracks Sans' door open a bit. To his relief, his brother is well and alive inside, merely sleeping. Papyrus closes the door silently, the door letting out the quietest click, and heads down the short staircase.

'I can never understand how one person can sleep THAT long for an entire night.' Papyrus muses, although his view of sleeping is a bit skewed from nightmares and restlessness he experiences often.

Throwing on a coat, Papyrus hurries out the door, heading off to the one place he always gravitates to.

He doesn't remember EXACTLY why he likes the ruin door so much, maybe it is because it assures him that the human hasn't come through yet? Even though they wouldn't be coming for a very long time. He shook that thought away, simply continuing into the thick blanket of snow quickly setting over Snowdin Woods, replacing the last one, and the one before that.

And the one before that.
