Papyrus' eyes opened slowly.  His vision remained blurry for a few seconds before clearing.  He looked at his clock.

"9:03 AM."  It simply displayed.

Though not as early as his usual 6:00 AM, Papyrus tried not to think negatively.  He jumped a little at the sound of a snore next to his bed.  Looking down he saw his brother Sans sitting on the floor, leaning on his bed.  Papyrus' expression momentarily turned to confusion.

'How had I not noticed him sooner?'  He wondered to himself.

Though pushing the thought away, he lightly shook his brother awake.

"H-hm what?"  It took Sans a moment for him to grasp where he was.  And then another longer one to remember the events that had unfolded the day before.

He studied Papyrus' expression, before having gotten a more content seeming expression.

"You seem to be feeling a little better bro."  Sans commented.

Papyrus' smile widened, and he nodded, "yes, I do feel quite better!"

The two sat in silence for a little bit.  Before Papyrus attempted and then successfully stood up.  Though wobbly, he did feel a lot better.  He found himself almost feeling too much better.  Too quickly.  He simply shook his head, his smile returning.

"I am feeling quite better brother!  I think I will be able to go to work today!"  Papyrus exclaimed.

Sans got a thoughtful expression.  Then simply nodded.

"You do look like the great Papyrus again."  The comment made Papyrus smile all the more.

"Of course I do!  I AM the great Papyrus after all.  It is only right that I do."  Papyrus' enthusiasm made Sans smile a little more.

"Alright, I'll meet you downstairs."  Sans stood and went to his own room.

"See you soon brother!"  Papyrus changed into his battle body.

Papyrus had been the first down the stairs, of course.  His enthusiasm and sudden wellness excited him all the more.  By the time Sans sauntered out of his room, Papyrus already had breakfast prepared.  The two sat at the table and ate.  Sans would admit the food was very cold, and probably underdone.  Though having been thankful that it just wasn't regular spaghetti, Sans ate it anyways.  It appeared to have been some kind of waffle.  Then, Papyrus was out the door.

Sans sighed, his expression becoming more somber and exhausted.

Papyrus worked happily on puzzles, waving and greeting anyone that walked past.  Though, his yelling startled many.  After an hour of puzzles, he heard the human had arrived in Snowdin.  Though not for a good reason.  Dust floated in the air and many monsters were packing and fleeing.  The air felt heavy and made Papyrus frown.

"The human must be approaching...  This is my chance!  I could convince them to stop!  Maybe this time, if...if not the next one!"  His cheery demeanor shook slightly.

He approached the end of Snowdin and the beginning of Waterfall.  Though, footsteps echoed behind him.

'Right on time.'  The thought made him shiver momentarily.

"HALT HUMAN!"  Papyrus turned around sharply.

The human was once again covered in dust.  They took a step forward.

"HEY, QUIT MOVING WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!"  Papyrus successfully suppressed any stutter.

"I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY!  FIRST: YOU'RE A FREAKING WEIRDO!  NOT ONLY DO YOU NOT LIKE PUZZLES... BUT THE WAY YOU SHAMBLE ABOUT FROM PLACE TO PLACE..."  He looked away momentarily.

Then looked back at the human, "THE WAY YOUR HANDS ARE ALWAYS COVERED IN DUSTY POWDER.  IT FEELS... LIKE YOUR LIFE IS GOING DOWN A DANGEROUS PATH.  HOWEVER!"  Papyrus' cheerful determination did not faze the human.

"I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS SEE GREAT POTENTIAL WITHIN YOU!  EVERYONE CAN BE A GOOD PERSON, IF THEY TRY!  AND ME, I HARDLY HAVE TO TRY AT ALL!!!  NYEH HEH HEH HEH!!!"  The human took a step forward.

"HEY, QUIT MOVING!  THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!  HUMAN!  I THINK YOU ARE IN NEED OF SOME GUIDANCE!  SOMEONE NEEDS TO KEEP YOU ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW!  BUT WORRY NOT!  I, PAPYRUS..."  He hesitated slightly.

"WILL GLADLY BE YOUR FRIEND AND TUTOR!  I WILL TURN YOUR LIFE RIGHT AROUND!!!"

The human approached closer.

"I SEE YOU ARE APPROACHING.  ARE YOU OFFERING A HUG OF ACCEPTANCE?  WOWIE!!  MY LESSONS ARE ALREADY WORKING!!"  He knew what was most likely coming, whether he deny it or not.

"I, PAPYRUS WELCOME YOU WITH OPEN ARMS!!!"  He spread his arms open.

Papyrus blinked, one moment he could feel his arms.  The next he could not.  He felt his head hit the ground.  His body dissolved into dust above him.

"W-WELL, THAT'S NOT EXACTLY WHAT I HAD EXPECTED.. BUT.. ST..STILL!  I BELIEVE IN YOU!  YOU CAN DO A LITTLE BETTER!  EVEN IF YOU DON'T THINK SO!  I... I PROMISE..."

His vision became clouded, and then silence took over.  Everything turned black.

Papyrus vaguely remembers golden halls, a metallic smell.  And then he sat upright in bed.
