A servant tried stopped me on my way to invite Kaida to dinner. The lords and ministers were letting their curiosity get the best of them it would seem. She won't go if I tell her, but I can't not produce her. Fuck... how do they even know she is here? She'll definitely try to leave now.
"My Lord?" She broke me away from my thoughts and I looked at her. She seemed nervous. "Lady Kaida... she wouldn't allow me to help her as you requested."
I smiled at her and her cheeks began to tint. "I imagine not, it's fine."
She quickly nodded and nearly fell as she turned to leave, but I caught her arm. "Th-... thank you, My Lord."
I simply nodded and headed toward my destination. "You're welcome."
I was still weighing my options as I knocked. Well... if nothing else she is an expert liar or... maybe? "Come in."
I pushed it open and she glared as I hovered at the door. "Uh, can I help you with something?"
I refrained from reacting. She thinks I'm crazy... "You haven't eaten today." A slight frown graced her lips as she stared. Yup... she does. "Would you like to join me?"
She looked as if she was about to refuse. "Very well."
I smiled. Simpler than I thought... "Good, let's go."
She followed quietly for a moment. "How are those girls?"
My shoulders lifted automatically. Why does she care? They were trying to get her first. "They are fine and have been sent home."
She hesitated. "Your girlfriend almost died..."
I spun, smirking. So, she cares? "You keep calling her my girlfriend, are you jealous?"
She arched a brow as if I'd truly lost my mind. "Jealous? Of what?"
That bruised my ego more than a little bit and I started to walk again. "She's not my girlfriend and chaos follows her wherever she goes. Her friends only encourage her. Thank you for saving her by the way."
"I'm the reason she almost died."
I glanced at her and she looked away. Not exactly a lie. "You didn't mean it, otherwise you wouldn't have saved her."
She froze as we came to the main dining room. Please don't run. "Who else is coming?"
I looked at her, watching as her eyes swept the room and paused at exits. May as well... "Just a few people from the palace, they are curious about the girl who showed up here."
Her glare was lethal. "Why didn't you tell me this?"
I put on my most innocent smile as people started to trickle in. "Would you have agreed if I had?"
She huffed and suddenly she seemed to shift, becoming softer, eyes lowering, standing with more poise, and placing her hands gracefully in front of her. What in the actual hell?
She was now the epitome of a palace born princess, not the fiery girl who almost killed another not an hour before. Her eyes scanned the faces of the Lords and ministers. This... will be more than interesting. A test maybe? Let's see how she pulls this off.
