I picked up the thirty-seventh book from the pile that Leila gave me. Since I wasn't able to go to school, like all my life, she made me study a library of them! Before I could even open that certain book, Leila took it from me and grinned evilly.
"Quiz time!", she said, still wearing that scary smile. I was about to say something but she interrupted me and added, "Get a paper and ballpen."
Like I had any choice, I did as she said then positioned myself.
"Question number one: In which parts of the US territory do the motorists drive on the left?", she asked. I racked my head for some answers then scribbled my answer to the paper. As soon as she saw that I was done answering, she started talking again, "Question number two: Finland is also known by what name?"
She kept asking and I kept answering. Things were quite easy for me. She stopped asking then eventually took my paper. She looked for a while then cast a goofy grin on her face.
"Nice one, mermaid princess. Perfect score. Seems like you're ready for school.", she said.

"Wear this.", Leila ordered. I looked at the dress she gave me. It's simple but preppy. Today's the first day of school, and to tell you the truth, I'm shaking nervous!
"Are you sure they don't bite?", I asked her for the nth time. We could never be so sure. What if a shark pretended to be human then went to school? What if that shark ate me? That would be scary.
"Come on, Pearl. There's nothing to worry about. Besides, you're smart. You could easily fit in.", she reassured me, again and again. I feel kind of sorry for her. She must've been aggravated by my nervousness. But who could blame me? Being nervous is simply my nature.
Eventually, I went to the bathroom to change into the dress Leila gave me. I went out and asked her, with a shaking voice, "Do I look fine?"
Leila looked quite stunned for a while but then spoke up, "Are you kidding me? You look way better than fine."
"Sting Rays! Leila, you're making me more nervous!", I exclaimed. My heart is pounding really hard. Many What Ifs are flashing inside my head. What if I mess up? What if I they don't like me? And most importantly, what if Brandon won't remember me?
Oh, Clams. I'm having a heart attack!
