chapter 10 [first task]

the first task came in fast, and here we were, in the black lake. with the two other champions.

"the first task will begin in five minutes." a voice announced and i just stood there, in a tank top and shorts. i touched the water and its kind of cold. i hate this.

"you good?" someone put a hufflepuff scarf around my neck and i recognized from the obvious chicken and forest scent its teddy's. 

"yeah im good, but what are you doing here?" i asked him. 

"im going to watch, of course. it's not everyday that theres a triwizard tournament." he smiled at me and i just chuckled. "also, here." he handed me the gillyweed and i nodded and thanked him. there was silence so i looked around and saw the marauders and regulus glaring at ted. what the?

"champions get here now." filch said and i gave ted back his scarf, waving a goodbye. "thirty seconds left, come on." he added and i ate my gillyweed. it tasted like, plants filled with honey. i still kind of have doubts about the gillyweed, thats why if things go wrong i'll cast the bubble head charm. i suddenly saw a serpent like jump out of the water and i gulped. but i dont think i should be that scared, its a sea serpent. it doesnt attack humans, i think. i looked around me and i saw nikolai smiling and bella just looking at the lake. it is kindof scary.

"three, two, one. go!" dumbledore counted down and i jumped into the lake. we were supposed to find a treasure chest but i believe theres more to that. i swam down, expecting obstacles but the only creature im seeing right now is the sea serpent. as i was swimming down with ease grindylows suddenly attacked me. what do i do? do i fiendfyre them? no! i tried to swim down but it didnt work. oh right!

"relashio!" i pointed my wand at the attackers and they all let go. i swam down to the treasure chest and was supposed to open it. i muttered an alohomora since it was locked and it opened without fail. i saw three keys and i picked one up, out of curiousity i tried to pick another one but it suddenly became heavy, huh. guess it was cursed. i looked back up to see nikolai struggling with the grindylows and bella almost being dragged by the merpeople while the sea serpent is just vibing. mood. i casted the 'relashio' on both of their attackers and they just looked confused but swam down. i swam up and saw a merman going after me.

"ebublio." i casted and the merman was trapped. too bad, he was kind of cute. as i was halfway up i saw a swarm of grindylows and merpeople all going towards me. shit? too many. too many. maybe i can use the cascading jinx and the pullus jinx? thats all im good for anyway, jinxes.

after i casted the cascading jinx that allows me to target multiple enemies at once. i pointed my wand and thought about what jinx i should use.

"ducklifors." i said and they all turned into ducks. aw. cute! but no time to be distracted. i looked down and saw nikolai and bella fighting, i wonder why? i just swam up and seeing as there are no more obstacles, i hurried because of the time limit on the gillyweed. fortunately i reached the surface and showed my key to dumbledore, and i climbed up. 

"where is cadieux and ivanov?" mcgonagall asked. "still down there. professor. nothing to worry about." i explained and she loosened her shoulders a bit. they were still down there, but im sure they can do on their own, right? anyway i cast a drying charm on myself and just wanted to sleep.

"you better take this, it's cold." someone put a jacket around me and i turned to see peter. i gestured for him to sit next to me and he obliged. i mumbled a thanks and we just looked down at the lake, they apparently charmed it so it looked foggy when you go in but when you go out its crystal clear. anyway bella was scared of the sea serpent and took the long road just so she doesnt get caught up on it. nikolai just swam up, not thinking about anything but a bunch of ducks suddenly blocked him and bella surfaced first. i wonder why? nikolai surfaced behind her and they raced for their lives. bella got up first and now i think shes second place.

"alright. get up here to hear the rankings." dumbledore said and filch helped nikolai out of the water.

"first place, l/n with fifty points and cadieux trailing behind with thirty five points. third place, ivanov got twenty five points." mcgonagall announced and i kind of groaned. all that for fifty points and just a fifteen point difference? really? aight, just appreciate it.

"good job, champions. that key may be a hint. we dont know." dumbledore stated and i rose my eyebrow. where can this key even fit? i

"you better get changed." lily suddenly came up behind me and i stood up, i was gonna give the jacket back to peter. "you can keep it." he mumbled then before i could process anything he walked away. aight then. 

"looks like someones got a bit of a crush on you." alice appeared and i rolled my eyes. does he? maybe he does. i dont really care.

as we were walking back to the castle i had a lot of people congratulate me. looks like jinxes really do help,

"y/n?" someone tugged on my hair and i was surprised by the sudden act so i accidentally let a sudden 'i swear to godric i will'

"sorry." regulus turned away but i just chuckled. "its okay reg, didnt know you missed me so badly though." i teased and he didnt seem to disagree or show any signs of protesting, okay?

"excellent job y/n." snape suddenly appeared and i looked at him weirdly. he wasn't one to give compliments so what the fuck is happening?

"thank you, i guess." i turned away and lily pulled to them to save me. the four guys i absolutely loathe but dont hate at the same time suddenly ran after us and we ran away. after we think we lost them i sighed and chuckled at the same time. alice looked around and lily just sat there.
