2. Departure

It was 7 o'clock when I heard the familiar ringing of my alarm.

'' It's time for you to go back home isn't it? murmured Lya.

I nodded my head. '' I'm sorry...''

'' Nope, no more sadness. Our last memory must be happy. Just think about the new stuff you're going to experience there. Not everything is bad, ok?'' she gave me a little nudge, trying to comfort me.

'' Yeah, I guess you're right. I'll be back before you even realize I'm gone.''

'' Yas! That's my girl! See you soon then.'' She smiled.

'' See you soon Lya'' I said while giving her one last hug. I don't know how much time we spent like this. It could have been 30 seconds or 3 hours. The only thing I knew was that this moment could certainly compete with some of my most precious memories.

I walked mindlessly towards my house. It's hard to believe that, in less than 24 hours, I'll be somewhere random in the human universe. As I enter my place after unlocking the door, I hear a loud shriek coming from the second floor.

'' Nyxieeeeeeeee!''

Ugh not that nickname.

'' Hey Solis, what's up.''

'' What's up? What do you mean what's up? You're leaving! Or did you forget?''

'' Thanks for the reminder sis'' I replied sarcastically.

'' Hey Nyx, don't be like this on our last day together, please?'' She gave me her best pitiful look.

'' I- I'm sorry, it's just that- ''

'' I understand, it's ok'' she placed a hand on my shoulder. '' You probably still haven't eaten; I'll bring you some food'' she said as she disappeared in the kitchen.

She came back a few minutes later, holding a plate of leftover fried rice.

'' Here. Oh, and try to not eat like a pig this time'' she giggled.

'' YAH! What did you just say?! Who eats like a pig?'' I cried.

'' Hahaha! Nobody ok? Nobody. Are you happy now?''

'' Yes'' I grumbled '' Now let me eat my meal in peace''

'' Sure, but we'll have to watch a movie after''

'' Ok, anything that'll make you happy, Solis''

''What should we watch?''

We were currently in the basement, sitting on the couch, with all the lights on because I'm afraid of the dark.

''Let's watch a princess movie! I want to feel nostalgic'' proposed Solis.

'' Sure, which one?''

'' You choose''

'' Ok, I'll put on the one about Nausicaa then'' I said, knowing that it was her favorite.

Five minutes later, the TV screen was displaying a little girl in a flower field and Solis was snuggled under a fluffy cover, eating some popcorn.

Around 9:30, our mother joined us for a second movie and stayed there until the credits appeared. My sister fell asleep around 11:00, she was exhausted from all the patrolling she had to do this week. I carried her upstairs to the third floor, careful to not wake her up and placed her softly on her bed.

I then went to my room, plopping myself on the queen size mattress. After 30 minutes of tossing and turning, I dragged my body to Solix's room and went to sleep beside her, suddenly feeling a lot better.

I woke up to a weird noise coming from the floor. Oh right, my stupid alarm.

''Are you leaving?'' I hear a voice behind me say.

'' Go back to sleep, I'm sorry I woke you up.''

'' No, I'm getting up. I will not waste any time I can spend with you before you leave.''

Knowing that nothing would change her mind, I didn't insist anymore and led her downstairs to eat breakfast.

The doorbell rang.

As I went to open the door, I could feel my heartbeats increasing in speed and my hands trembling. Slowly, I turned the doorknob, revealing the woman standing behind.

'' Lilith!'' I went and gave her a hug.

'' Hey Nyx! You ready?''

I nodded '' Let's go''
