<>Gajeel's POV<>

I woke up in the morning with Pantherlily sleeping on my head like a rock. I got up, got changed and headed to the guild. When I opened the wooden doors, I saw Levy sitting at a table, squealing together with Juvia. Atta Shrimp.

'Hiya Shrimp,' I called. 'Watcha talking about?'

She looked over at me, 'Uh, nothing, Gajeel.'

'Come here for a sec,' I grumbled.

She sighed, 'Fine.'

She walked over, dragging her feet on the ground tiredly and sat down at the table in front of me, motioning me to follow. I sat down across from her.

'Uh, Sh-Shrimp,' I mumbled. 'Would you like, to go to the, Valentine's Day party, at the park, with me?'

She blinked, stunned.

'S-sure, Gajeel,' she stuttered.

'Alright. Pick you up at six then, huh. Shrimp?' I asked.

Levy smiled, 'Okay, that's fine with me.'

'What were you and Juvia talking about, anyway?' I wondered.

'She was asked to go to the party by Gray,' Levy giggled.

'Cool, I guess?'

God, you're such a grumpy pants,' she scrunched up her nose distastefully. I had to admit, she looked sorta cute when she did that. It was really worth my imputence.

'What?' she asked.

I realized I was staring and coughed, 'Uh, nothin'. Don't worry 'bout it, Shrimp.'

'Fine,' she sighed.

'Well, see ya, Short Stuff,' I turned to go.

'Okay, well, I'll go pick something to wear then,' she turned the other way.

As she ran out of the guild, I saw her stop and catch Lucy's arm along the way. The two exchange low, excited whispers before Levy disappeared out the door.

'Hey, Mira!' I shouted gruffly. 'Toss me one of those iron forks over there.

<>Natsu's POV<>

As Gray walked away, I saw Lucy staring after him confusedly with wide eyes. I felt something bubble up inside me. Was it anger? Resentment? No, I don't think so, I thought to myself, dismissing the notion.

It was a few hours later and I finally fought up the courage to go up to Lucy and ask her. I walked over to a table by the stairs where she was sitting, reading a novel.

'Yo, Luce!' I smirked.

'Oh, hi Natsu!' she called.

I went to sit across from her. She folded up her book.

'Hey,' my smirk changed to a smile. 'Do you wanna go to the Valentine's Day Party with me?'

Lucy blinked, 'Eh?'

'You know, that party in South Gate Park,' I tipped my head. 'You knew about it right?'

'Y-yeah,' she replied with a stutter. Was she nervous? 'But, why me?'

'Because its couples only,' I reminded her. 'But I hear the foods awesome! And you're the only girl I'm comfortable asking.'

That's half true, I thought. But not the only reason.

'Oh, okay!' she smiled back at me.

'Alright! I'll pick you up at six o'clock, then?' I asked, standing.

'Sure,' she answered.

As soon as we were done talking, she raced over to Erza with something of a skip in her step and the biggest of all beams on her face. I thought she looked so cute when she smiled.

'I knew it.'

I turned. Gray was smirking at me in satisfaction, his arms crossed over his (obviously) bare chest.

'Knew what?' I asked.

'That you were gonna ask her, Flame Brain,' he replied. 'Took you long enough.'

On any other occasion, I would've knocked his teeth in. But today, I was way too happy.

'It did, didn't it.'
