"You can't be serious" I whispered downright speechless, while I couldn't decide whether it'd be more appropriate to laugh or to cry.
The only thing that crossed my mind was that Xavier was dead meat.

How dare he play me like that?

"I know what it looks like, but if you leave your prejudices aside, you'll see for yourself that sometimes things aren't what they seem."

"That's a pretty shitty advice when you consider that you literally took me to the most dubious fortune-telling place on the planet. Where did you even find it? Wait, I actually don't wanna know."

"Don't let the looks fool you, the owner of this business is so much more than what you probably imagine her to be like."

"That my friend is a really bold statement for someone who has just lost all of my respect."

"Please, as if you ever had any respect for me."

"Touché."

"Now quit being such a coward and go inside" he replied with a sly grin, "I promise you won't regret it."

"You said the same thing when you tried to get me to eat a snail! At this point your words mean nothing to me."

"If you'd actually eaten it instead of always complaining, you might have enjoyed the taste, but that's an issue for another time. Now go."

"Okay,... there's no need for you to get so bossy."
The sooner I'll be done with this, the sooner I can go home or back to yesterday if I'm not fast enough.

After knocking on the door and hearing a friendly "it's open" I looked at Xavier and wondered why he still hadn't moved.

"Aren't you coming with me?"

"Sorry, but I can't. That old hag banned me from entering, but I'll wait for you."

"Every time I feel like I can't hate you more than I already do, you make it your mission to prove me wrong."

"What can I say, my mom always told me my greatest talent was to annoy those who deserve it the most."

"Whatever, I'm going"

Xavier may was a jerk but it never got boring with him and who knows, maybe this little getaway was (in a really odd way) what I needed.
With that in mind, I swallowed my pride and just went in to look for someone who would either make the whole experience even more strange or send me home since I had no business here.

"Hello?" I tried to announce my presence and thankfully it didn't take very long before someone actually answered me.

"Hm, what can I do for you?"

"Um, nothing?"

"Are you sure, kiddo? Nobody ever looks for me unless they're desperate as this isn't a service like any other."

"I see ... oh God, how should I put this. First off, please don't be mad at me, but my friend more or less forced me to-..."

"Your friend?"

"Ah, yes, he's waiting outside. He said something about not being allowed in, so he sent me alone."

Her right eye twitched at that.

"Could it be that your mysterious friend is someone named Xavier, because if that's the case I'll have to kindly ask you to go" she said as she nudged me to make her point clear. But the moment she touched me, she immediately took a step back and looked at me with trembling eyes as if she had seen a ghost.

"You- "

"Yes?"

"No, that can't be true, but why. Why now and why you?"
