Mia found it hard to believe Park Sunghoon was a real person.
He laid on the floor of her bedroom, a blanket covering the bottom half of his body and an arm covering his eyes. He was sleeping, which didn't come as a surprise to Mia anymore - it was all he did whenever he came over. (It was also six in the morning on a Saturday. Of course he would be sleeping.) However, today was different and that was because today, Mia had finally gotten the chance to watch him sleep.
It was creepy, the way she was wrapped in her four blankets, hair a complete mess and eyes wide despite being exhausted. To anyone, she looked insane - she wouldn't really deny that either. But it was just impossible not to watch him.
Believe it or not, Sunghoon looked ethereal. With the sun's rays touching his face as the morning light poured through the bedroom window, Mia stared at him, completely awestruck. He was beautiful, even though he also looked a mess.
The girl blinked, scooting closer to the edge of her bed as if to get a better look at him. Is he even breathing? she thought to herself. There's no way he actually exists, right?
Minutes passed and she remained in her place, fully aware that he could wake up at any moment. That didn't bother her though - she was too busy trying to figure out why God had made it so obvious that he had favorites.
Sunghoon stirs, followed by a groan. He slowly opens his eyes, only to shut them once again when the sunlight hits them. "Ow," he mumbles as he sits up, putting a hand on his back. He opens one eye, still adjusting to the morning sunlight, and stares at Mia. "Wow," he says. "What a view." He was clearly being sarcastic - even the nicest person would admit that she looked horrible that morning.
"Shut up, Sleeping Beauty," she says, finally moving from her position. With the blankets still wrapped around her, she falls back on her bed and closes her eyes. "Finally, I can get some sleep."
"Why didn't you sleep earlier?" Sunghoon asks, getting off the floor to stretch, momentarily glancing at Mia.
"Because you were sleeping," she says tiredly. "And you looked so peaceful."
"Your habit of watching other people sleep scares me."
"You were prettier with your mouth shut." Sunghoon laughs at her words and folds the blanket he had used. "Goodnight, or good morning. I don't know anymore, time doesn't exist anyway."
It doesn't take long for Mia to fall asleep. All she needed was to close her eyes and off she was to Neverland. Sunghoon yawned, taking a seat in the rocking chair she had near the bedroom window. It was random and he had mentioned many times how creepy it was to own a rocking chair, but Mia payed no attention to it. "It's nice for falling asleep," she had said. "Plus, it makes me feel like a grandma from the sixties - oh, to live in those times."
So there Sunghoon sits, in the rocking chair he had claimed to despise, watching Mia sleep. It was now seven in the morning and though her sleeping schedule was complete and utter shit, he was glad she was still able to sleep - whether it be in the morning or at night. He watches her in silence, the sound of her calmed breathing filling the bedroom.
It's like they took turns. One sleeps, the other watches over them. Then when one wakes up, the other sleeps. Sunghoon was well aware that this "routine" he and Mia had created was creepy and uncomfortable to most, but watching her sleep put him at ease, much like it did her.
"You worry me," Sunghoon said to her, even though she couldn't hear him. He sighed and got up from the chair, kneeling down beside her head that was pushed into her pillow. He smiled and gently put his hand on her head. "But I'll be here for you, okay? You can rest - I'll make sure nothing bad ever happens to you."
You're so pretty.
