"I can't believe you only took me out because your coupons expired today," Mia scoffed, standing behind Sunghoon as he payed for the food he'd bought (ramen. He bought ramen). "This isn't even a date, Park."
"A date is two people with mutal feelings for each other spending time together, whether is be indoors or outdoors," Sunghoon responded, taking the bags of ramen from the cashier and bidding them goodbye. He then turned back to Mia, "That's what we're doing."
"I don't know if the feelings are mutual after this," Mia joked as they walked out of the store.
"You already promised forever, Choi Jisun," he reminded her, giving her a stern look. "It's too late to back out now."
"Where will you even store all of this?"
"We're eating it."
"All of it?" Mia asked, raising an eyebrow in concern.
Sunghoon nodded. "That's why I bought it, yes."
"That's 26 packs of instant ramen, Sunghoon."
"I know," he said. "You think I can't count?"
Park Sunghoon and Mia Choi spent three hours cooking 26 packs on instant ramen. They only finished seven.
"I'm so full," Mia said, laying back on the couch. Sunghoon sat beside her in the exact same position, his hands on his stomach as he tried his best not to throw up. "I can't believe you ate four of those, Hoon."
He burped. "Me neither."
"Can't believe this is your ideal date," Mia scoffed. "We're about to throw up our insides and you think it's romantic. You're insane, Park."
"Yeah, but we'll be throwing up together."
The couple sit there for a moment, enjoying each others company without the need for words. It was moments like these that made Mia wonder what exactly she'd be doing without Sunghoon in her life. Would she be with someone else? Or would she be stuck in the same place she was before she'd met him? All alone, trying to find a light in the darkness. She hates the idea of not being with Sunghoon, not being able to talk to him about the most random topics, not being able to sit comfortably with him. It drives her mad.
"Mia." She turned her head at the sound of his voice, meeting his eyes. "What were you thinking about?"
She found was no point in lying to him, not when he could read her like an open book and knew her like the palm of his hand. "Do you think it's possible for us to not be together?" she asked. "Do you think there's a universe where we hadn't met? Where we weren't us?"
"Of course not." Sunghoon's answer was instant and certain, his voice firm. "It's not possible for us to not be together, to not be us."
"Why do you say that?" she asked.
"Because I know myself," he said, "and I know that I would always find a way back to you. Even if we're not together."
Mia stares, followed by a quiet laughter as she hits his shoulder softly. "You've been practicing that, haven't you?" she said, to which Sunghoon cracked a smile.
"Pretty romantic, don't you think?" he asked, laughing with her.
"You're so stupid."
"Stupidly in love."
"Get away from me." Mia pushed him away, only for Sunghoon to move closer to her, wrapping her arms around her waist and having a giggle-fit. It was then that she realized he was right - it was impossible for them to not be together. It didn't matter what reality they lived in.
She would always be in love with Park Sunghoon.
