Chapter 8

"So, for the first part of our date I thought we could reminisce. Yes, it's cheesy. I know, but I wanna think about every moment that led us from little boys who were best friends to boyfriends," Louis explains.
There's silence in response. Too long in Louis' opinion. He is starting to get worried.
"Haz...did I say something wrong?" Louis asks, tentatively.
"Boyfriend?" Harry asks, looking over at Louis with a hopeful glint in his eye, which Louis does not catch.
"I- uhm- sorry I didn't think about it. If you're not ready it's-" Louis rambles, and is cut off by Harry's lips on his for the second time that evening.
"Of course I want to be your boyfriend you dolt," Harry says, smiling.
"Really??" Louis asks, excitedly.
"Really," Harry confirms, intertwining their fingers.

For the next hour or so they voice their thoughts to each other. Mostly talking about stupid things one another did as children, and memories with the boys. Quick, chaste kisses were shared in the midst of things.
"Right," Louis says, clapping his hands. "We have a place to be before the sun starts setting," he continues.

With that Louis leads Harry to the treeline that is just to the side of the park. There would usually be loads of flowers but, seeing as it's January, there's none.
"I wanna watch the sunset with you," Louis says.
Harry's heart could melt at that.
"Thank you baby," Harry says, testing the waters with the pet name.
Louis' smile grows so wide that he's worried his face my split open.

They watch the most of the sunset together, leaving just before it gets too dark. Louis, like the gentlemen that he is, walks Harry home.
"I had fun Boo," Harry says.
"Good. This is one of the many dates I'll be  taking you on," Louis states, matter-of-factly.
"Is that so?" Harry questions, stepping forward.
"It is," Louis says, before closing the distance between them.

The kiss is short lived as the door opens to reveal a beaming Anne. They exchange goodnights and Louis makes his way back home.

"Soooo, how was your date?" Jay questions.
"Perfect," Louis sighs, as he makes his way to his room.

If after he closes the door he slides down it and touches his lips in disbelief, nobody has to know.
