"Lillian! we are going to be late if you move any slower" I hear my mum shout from the bottom of the stair.

" I will be down in a minute mum, I'm just making sure I have everything before we leave" I shout back at her. She didn't even answer I just heard her slam the front door as it echoed my room. I definitely will not miss the slamming of doors and hearing every conversation in the house, it's like the walls are made of paper. The knot in my stomach is growing as each minute passes. It only feels like yesterday I was at a cheer competition where I came first, in the city of London to only be approached by a smartly dressed man. He had a soft American accent, he was wearing a black suit with black pointed polished shoes. I could see my reflection in them, they were that shiny. At the time he said to me I should apply to Harvard in America as I was good enough to apply. So that night I applied. Not thinking I would get in Especially being from London, but I was wrong. The feeling when I received the letter it was magical, I cried with excitement and joy. My mum and dad both cried for a while and I have never seen my dad cry so seeing him cried made it even more of a magical moment. That was when I knew I made him proud. All the early mornings, late nights, and many competitions paid off. I was thrilled, however, shitting it as I would be across the world away from my family, friends, and routine.

I slowly shut my door as it creaks and it finally hit me this will be the last time for a long time that I will be calling this my home. A tear slowly rolls down my warm rosy cheeks before I even notice it was there. I quickly wipe it away. When I reach the bottom of the stairs I see Buster our dog. He is an all-grey husky with hits on black on him with piercing blue eyes. Even though he looks scary he's a big softy at heart. Before I leave I cuddle him placing my arms around his neck, promising to see him soon and I told him I loved him. when I removed my arms he looked at me with puppy dog eyes and gave me his paw. I struggled to fight back the tears that were streaming down my face by now. I had to leave quickly because Buster was making it even harder to say goodbye as he has been around for every good and bad thing to happen in my life. I'm gutted he has to stay here back in London.

As I quickly shut the door I walked over to the car. Before I open the car door I turn back and look at my childhood home and all the memories flashed through my brain. I did not think it would be this emotional leaving for my dream. I open the car door and get in. " Are you ready honey?" my mum asked, but she couldn't look at me. Maybe because she would burst out crying but I don't blame her.

" yeah, I'm ready to go, ready to start a new journey," I say as I'm putting my seatbelt on while I'm fighting back the tears as I don't want my parents to see how emotional I am.

"Okay then let's get a move on, I want to beat the traffic that will build up. You can't risk being late" my dad said while starting up the engine and leaving the driveway.

it feels strange hearing the tires leave the gravel of the driveway as it will be the last time. As we leave my street all the memories over the past years flood my brain. I start to close my eyes and drift off to the memories of younger me playing in the street with all the neighbours.
