Dao Ming
I woke up and looked at my phone. 6. School wasnt until 8 and it only took 5 minutes or so to get there.
I looked at Ae Si who was still asleep. Her hands folded, and her hair covering her face. I slowly reached my hand out and pushed her hair behind her ear so I could see her. Her black eye swollen, the cut on her lip begining to close. Her fists were bruised making me question just how hard she hit the boys. I took a deep breath and layed on my back, staring at the blank ceiling. A long time had passed before Ae Si sat up, holding her eye. "Good morning" I greeted
She looked at me blankly, sleep still in her face. "I'm hungry" she stated quietly, making me laugh.
I got up and walked to the other side of the bed, offering my hand to help her. She took it and stumbled to her feet. As she walked out she crashed into the door frame nearly hitting her head on the corner but I managed to get my hand there first. "Ae Si. Are you sure you don't have a concussion."
Ae Si laughed. "No. But I am sure you don't know how to fight."
"Ae Si" i scolded, worriedly. She looked at me and shrugged before walking downstairs carefully to the kitchen.
Jeon set 2 bowls of soup on the table. "We have time we'll stop at the hospital."
"No-
"That wasn't a question" I interrupted her.
She continued to sit down and ate. When we finsihed, we got ready for school and Jeon drove us to the hospital. It took an hour for them to release her. They said they wanted to look into her previous brain injury along with this one. She had a slight concussion.
"Can you wear sunglasses instead of your... glasses" i asked.
She shrugged. "Not seeing color doesn't bother me. It bothers others."
I put my sunglasses on her carefully. "Well other peoples opinions don't matter." I said and brushed her hair to the back of her shoulder.
She looked at me and smiled a little before looking back at the front of the car. We got to school and went to class, sitting in our seats quietly. The class, like the day before, was calm. The lunch bell rang and me and Ae Si walked out of the room. She crashed into one of the football players knocking his stuff from his arms. Ae Si looked at him unintimidated. "Oops." She picked his stuff up and bowed apologetically.
The football player scoffed and studied her. "Stupid blind girl." He said before walking away.
Ae Si stared at where he once stood then continued walking to lunch when another boy slammed her against a locker. "Hey pretty. Can you even see me or are you too blind." He laughed.
That was the moment I did something i never thought I would. I had always been the strong quiet kid who didn't like talking to people and then I did this.
I grabbed the boys neck, slamming him against the locker. "Don't touch her." I said calmly. I had just realized how hard things were for Ae Si. How many people teased her, thinking they were funny.
The boy held my arms in a failed attempt to make me release my grip around his throat. "You think you scare me. Since when did you get a say in who I talked to?"
I held my hands tighter until he was pulling roughly at them. "That wasn't a statement it was a demand. Hands. Off" I said and let him fall to his feet.
Ae Si continued walking and I walked next to her to the lunch room. We got lunch and sat at an empty table to eat.
"I can protect myself" she stated.
