We had made our way further into Nexus, staying undetected for the most part. As much as Dom wanted to kill every Locust in sight, we all knew that engaging before getting a scope of the area was a bad idea. Once inside, Marcus stopped us.

"Dom.. How you holding up?" He asked

"I'm surviving.. bout all I can do." Dom replied, no emotion in his voice.

Marcus didnt know how to respond to that, and changed the subject, "Alright.. We have one goal here. Get into Nexus, and set off the beacon. First part of the mission is finding the main hub.. where the queen is."

"So we look for a palace." I added.

"Exactly. Itll most likely be the most intricate building down here, so hopefully itll be easy to spot. Near there, that's where we'll set off the beacon." Marcus stated.

I nodded, "Sounds easy enough. We shouldn't waste any time."

Marcus nodded and we made our way through a set of large doors. Past the doors, were multiple buildings, all connected by bridges. Below those buildings, was a vast ocean of emulsion. Reavers flew below, and above the buildings, and smack in the middle, was the biggest building of all. I pointed it out and looked at Marcus.

"Think that's it?" I asked

"Well.. Its the building that looks most like a palace.. chances are, that's where we'll find our queen. Let's get closer. We need a better place to set off the beacon. I dont want any grindlifts drilling straight into the emulsion." Marcus stated, moving forward.

The three of us continued through the Nexus, fighting our way through any Locust that got in our way. The fight was tiring, with the Locust throwing everything they had at us. Grinders, Boomers, Therons, Flamethrowers, Butchers.. even Mortars.. but Delta didnt fall easily. We tore through every last Locust until the coast was more than clear. We found our way to the one place that would be best for the grindlifts. A part of me was still worried some would fall to the emulsion below, but given the layout of Nexus, it would be impossible to find a place good enough that wasnt miles away from the Palace. Marcus ordered Jack to set off the beacon, and while Jack worked, we were left to fend off more Locust. Reavers swooped down and tried to stop us from setting the beacon off, but we werent going down that easily. The Reavers went down, and the Beacon was set. Shortly after, grindlifts began falling from above. We watched as the grindlifts landed, and the COG forces flooded out, jumping right into the fight. Nearby, we heard voices that were all too familiar.

"Hope you missed us, baby!" Cole exclaimed.

I looked up to see Cole and Baird on an upper platform, Cole waving down to us.

"Come on!" Cole said, smiling, "Get on up here, we got work to do!"

"Let's move, Delta!" Marcus stated.

We made our way up to Cole and Baird, quickly filling them in on the plan. We were taking the fight to the queen herself. Strike out the Locust leader in her own domain.

"Glad to see you didnt die." Baird said, clearing his throat as we all followed Marcus.

"Glad to see you didnt die either. The Stranded make it out ok?" I asked.

"Yeah. All of them were taken to Jacinto. Whether they stay there is on them." He remarked, looking at me, "Doubt it was easy getting in here."
