When I got home I found my parents and sister all sitting around the table, I sighed out and put my things down by the door before walking over, my dad trying to kill me with his eyes, my mother not bothering to look at me at all and my poor sister looking like she was stuck somewhere she really didn't want to be.
'What's happing about Christmas?' I asked quietly, they were all eating, I'd eaten at Tyler's, not that they'd actually plated anything for me. Silence followed my words and I took a deep breath. 'Well, then I'll be spending Christmas with Tyler and his family.' I pushed my chair back and went to walk away when my dad gripped my wrist tightly and yanked me down back into my seat.
'This obsession you and that boy have has to stop. You're throwing away your family. You're ruining everything.' I looked at him with utter confusion and anger.
'What?'
'Stop seeing him and everything can go back to normal.' Dad said sternly and I gawked at him.
'You've got to be kidding me, you really think I want to go back to the way things were? My closeted life where my only hopes of maybe finding someone to love were when I got a scholarship to college or joined the army? Because those were the only options I had with my life, and you really think I want to go back to taking beatings from a low life like you? I'd rather not thanks.' I went to stand up again but he stood with me and grabbed my arm.
'This has got to stop, the people in this town don't take lightly to faggots.'
'Neither do you apparently, and don't worry, I'm here another year and then I'm gone.'
'What you think you can run away and everything will be all fine?'
'Yeah, actually I do, because living with Tyler away from this shit hole of a town is better than being stuck here with you.'
'Then leave. Take your shit and get out of my house, if you're really sure that your life here is so bad run away with your faggot boyfriend and stop coming home, you're only putting everyone through more trouble.' I ripped my arm out of his grip and stalked off to my room, slamming the door and locking it. I started packing my things and called Tyler.
The silence, being ignored again and they even told my sister she wasn't to speak to me came over the holiday break as I began living at Tyler's, Titus and Tate didn't really have too much of a problem with it, if they did they didn't express it. I even asked and made sure they didn't mind. It was a week before Christmas when we flew out. Tyler and I sat in first class, his brothers across from us, I'd never been on a plane before so I was quite nervous, Tyler held my hand while I clung to his arm, my eyes closed trying not to focus on my ears popping. We sat and talked most of the plane ride; watching a movie together and cuddling up under a blanket until I started drifting off to sleep on Tyler's shoulder.
'How sweet, is that your younger brother?' I heard a woman ask in a soft voice.
'No, my boyfriend.' Tyler said squeezing my hand under the blanket.
'My mistake! Still so sweet.' Her voice didn't change and I felt kind of nice that Tyler had told a stranger I was his boyfriend. He woke me up before we landed and held my hand all the way to the baggage claim. There was a tall man with dark hair and eyes, he wore a very expensive looking suit, we'd all actually worn very nice clothes, jeans and nice shirts. The guys headed over to the man Titus and Tate taking their turns hugging the stranger, Tyler keeping my hand in a tight hold.
'Tyler, how are you?' The man asked as he stepped forward and hugged Tyler, who still refused to release my hand, giving the man a half hug.
'I am well. How are you Theo?'
'I'm good, now this must be your little friend.' The man said looking down at me, he didn't seem too pleased with me and I felt myself shrink a little.
'Zach is my boyfriend, do not denote him.' Tyler growled angrily, I let my free hand slide up his forearm and hold his arm against my body, the action calmed him a little and I smiled.
'It's nice to meet you. My name's Zach.' I smiled but this man, Theo, he made me beyond nervous... He hummed and Tyler bared his teeth. I held his arm a little tighter and he calmed again.
'We should get going, mum and dad are probably waiting.' Tate said and I watched as Titus pulled the bags from the carousel. Tyler grab his bag and mine, keeping tight grip on my hand.
Theo drove a large SVU, Tyler and I sitting side by side, Titus in the front with Theo and Tate sitting on my other side. We were in Germany and Tyler was pointing things out to me, whispering quietly. We left the main city and headed up towards the mountains, I was getting the feeling this family really liked their privacy, they always seemed to have houses surrounded by forests and woodland area. We pulled into an off road track and travelled along it for what seemed like an hour before pulling up to a very large cabin like mansion. Tyler and I got out, Tate behind me. Titus, Theo and Tyler grabbing the bags.
'Don't be too alarmed, Theo is just very strict, he's doesn't hate you but he's not just going to like you straight away. He and Tyler also have a hard time communicating, because Theo talks just about as much as Tyler does.'
'I noticed that Tyler isn't very fond of Theo. Is that just because he hasn't spent as much time with him as he has with you and Titus?'
'Ty and I have a hard time communicating with Tyler as well don't get me wrong, but I think it's more of an animalistic feature that he struggles with Theo. Theo would be considered the most dominant of us all, and Tyler takes that as a threat even though Theo doesn't mean to come off that way, he wasn't as bad before but now that you're here Tyler seems to have reverted back slightly, just for protection mode.'
'Yes.' I muttered as I watched Tyler act carefully around Theo, who was only slightly taller and slightly wider than Tyler but he emitted a completely different air about himself than Titus and Tate did. Tate and I followed the three into the house, it was nice and warm inside, a light snowfall covered the trees and ground outside, not enough to be worrying or anything but enough to make it very cold.
'Are you okay?' Tyler whispered in my ear and I turned and smiled at him.
'I'm spending Christmas with my boyfriend and his family, I'm really happy.' I smiled widely and when I looked back at him pink christened his cheeks and he looked away but slipped his hand into mine, it was rough but warm and I couldn't help but smile happily.
