"Charlotte?"
I covered my ears, I didn't want to hear anything other than my own mind. Everything else wasn't making any sense. But then again neither was i...
"Charlotte?" I heard my door creak open slightly and I ran over to it. I couldn't risk someone seeing the mirror.
"No please don't come in!" My voice sounded croaky, I knew Ashton could tell I'd been crying.
"What's wrong? Have you been crying?" His voice was flowing with sympathy, I could tell he was generally worried.
"No I'm fine. Please don't come in!" I was gripping onto the door, using all my strength the hold it closed.
"Charlotte com'n" he pushed the door again, he was clearly stronger than me as the door shoved me out of the way.
"No Ashton please!" I screamed pushing the door, my fluffy socks were not benefiting the situation.
Whenever I tried to walk on the tiles my feet slid behind me. Making holding the door twice as hard.
"Okay I'll wait outside for you then" he sighed then walked away. I heard the door of my room close and I finally released my strength.
I wiped my cheeks from he tears that had fallen, and sat on the toilet lid.
I stayed sat for a few moments trying to clear my head.
I felt as if I'd almost wiped the memories but as soon as I looked up my mind was quickly refreshed.
I needed to get changed, Ashton was waiting and I had some explaining to do.
I walked back into my room, making sure to close the bathroom door firmly behind me.
I opened up my suitcase, that I had earlier placed on the floor beside my bed, and got out some jeans and my grey Adidas jumper.
I quickly got changed and tied my knotted hair in a ponytail. I couldn't be bothered to get changed, I didn't think we were going anywhere seeing as It was already seven pm.
I pulled my sleeves down, trying to keep warm, and made my way back downstairs.
As I walked towards the kitchen I heard voices.
"Just look after her. She doesn't need anymore stress in her life" the voice I instantly identified as my uncle. I assumed he was talking to Ashton.
"I don't understand why you can't tell me what happened" Ashton sounded worn out and frustrated.
"Just drop it, its none of your business" I heard my uncles footsteps coming closer toward me.
I backed away in attempted to hide but before I had a chance to think he'd opened the door.
"How long have you been listening?" His glare was burning right through me. The tension was thick in the air, I could almost smell it.
"Not long" I lead my eyes away from him. I didn't want to make eye contact with him seeing as he's practically a lie detector on legs.
"Okay" he pushed passed me and walked down the hall. His posh boots clomped on the wooden floorboards. Each step getting quieter with the distance.
I peered round the door, into the kitchen, and saw Ashton with a mug in his hand.
"Finally you return" he laughed and then took another sip from the mug.
"Tea?" I shouldn't be surprised really. I've learnt that Ashton loves anything to do with mint. He always seams to have something with him that holds the scent.
"Your uncle made some, I couldn't resist" he smiled again then swished his hair to one side with his hand.
"Do you wanna watch a film?" I didn't have any plans to go out tonight and I needed some cheering up.
"Urmm yeah. Can I ask you something first?" Ashton put the tea down on the side and fumbled with something in his pocket.
"Urrr...sure" i had no idea what he might be asking, but my heart raced never the less.
"What's this?" He pulled a necklace out of his hand and held in out in front of me.
My eyes took a few seconds to focus on what charm was hanging on the end. It was small silver key that had a swirled line engraved on the end.
"Where did you find this?" I faintly recognised it, but I wasn't sure where from.
"It was in the spare room, in the draws, it was with this" he took a small envelope out of his pocket.
The white paper had a symbol painted on the front, it seamed like some sort of Chinese character. I'd never payed attention in language classes so I had no idea what it meant.
"Could I have it please?" I assumed it was something of mine as my uncle never leaves his office.
He handed me both the envelope and necklace. I quickly shoved them into my back pocket not wanting to worry about what might be inside.
"Should we go watch that film them?" I didn't want to bother thinking about the envelope. It was late and I was jet lagged so I had a excuse not to be thinking properly.
We both gathered some snacks then made our way into the oversized living room. The fresh white leather couches were way too big for us both so we decided to sit in the middle, giving us the best view of the television.
We both laughed so much until our eyes were tearing up and our stomachs hurt. I insisted we watched Miranda when he told me he'd never seen it before. It was one of my favourite series and I knew he'd love it.
"Oh my gosh I'd be so embarrassed!" I laughed so much because she'd just fallen out of a window at a meeting conference.
Neither of us replied as we were still laughing so much.
Ashton's dimples showed so much when he laughed. it was really cute, aside from his hair, they were one of the favourite things about him.
He must of noticed me staring at him because he stopped laughing and turned to face me. His eyes seamed be sparkling and I felt myself being drawn towards them.
Everything seamed to be going in slow motion and before I knew it we were both leaning closer together.
"Wait no! Ashton I can't, I'm so sorry" I didn't know what I was doing but I got up and ran out of the room.
Salty tears were steaming down my face and, once again, I found my self sat on my bed crying.
Just like the old times...
