Chapter 10

Simone

The voice belonged to Deon. I didn't even want to look back. I froze. I was just eyeing a very attractive guy and now my boyfriend knows.

"Who are you?" Lucas said in a defensive tone. "It's not nice to interrupt."

"I'm Simone's boyfriend, who the fuck are you?"

"Im Lucas. You're Simone's boufriend? Apologies." Lucas got up and walked away without answering Deon's question on who exactly he was. Instead of him leaving to a different spot in the bar, he left the whole building completely.

I can feel the tension between Deon and I. I still haven't looked back.

"Look at me," He says. I hesitated before turning around and see that his face was relaxed.

Yeah..his face was, but not his eyes. His eyes showed anger, betrayal.

"Do you like him?" He asks me. "Do you love him?"

"No, Deon stop." I reply worried that people might overhear. "It's nothing like that I just met him."

"Do you think he's handsome Simone?"

The question caught me off guard because obviously he heard our conversation, lying isn't an option. If I answer yes he might be angry.

Instead of answering I remained silent.

"Are you gonna answer or are you just gonna sit there like a fucking idiot?" He said in a mad tone.

"Everything cool over here?" The lady bartender asked while cleaning a cup.

"Yeah." I answered. "We're fine."

She walked away taking one last glance before moving to another customer.

"Deon, I don't know if you know but, It's not a good fucking idea to cause a scene in public. You know, especially under our circumstances. So I'd really appreciate if you would sit down, and talk to me instead of looking like a mad man."

Without more feedback he sat down and took my drink chugging it down. In reality, it's my fault I let another guy entertain me, but then again it's natural to be attracted to other people. It's not like I had other intentions with Lucas other than talking.

"Deon, what you seen was nothing more than a friendly conversation. Yes, I'm sorry that I was eyeing him but I truly had no other intentions."

"Why did you leave?" He asked. "When I woke up I thought something happened to you."

"I wanted to go out." I replied.

"Alone? Walking?"

"Yeah, no offense but I needed to get out and I didn't want to wake you up. So I just left. Sorry for worrying you. I also specifically wanted to walk to clear my head"

"Right now that's not our worries." He said lowering his voice. "Egor told me they filed a missing report for Cadince."

My heart fell to my stomach. It's hardly been 3 full days since she was dead. How are people so quick? Did Egor snitch? Did someone find her body? Where is her body? Did they clean up the scene?

"Simone!" Deon called. "Wake up, I've been calling you."

"Sorry go on."

"So they're most definitely going to come for us, so we need to stay calm and act like we know nothing."

"Okay, but what about the murder scene?" I asked. "You're telling me that..she didn't know she was pregnant? She's been smoking since last month!" I quickly switched the conversation after noticing the bartender was coming over. "I hope her baby comes out healthy after all of that."
