Chapter 6: True Colors

No One P.O.V

Taehyung was getting a back massage by his trusted servant. Another servant got Taehyung some tea and place it in front of him on the table. A third servant came and took off Taehyung's nail guards putting them back in their box so they don't break or get lost. Taehyung picked up the tea and took a sip of it. 

"Your majesty, you are too forgiving. Watching the noble ceremony today, That one maid kept on disturbing you and purposely ruining your attire. She crossed the line, even after she had made those mistakes she would not apologize properly to you. Are you not angry with her?" The maid asked feeling furious. 

Taehyung looked at the servant then took a deep breath. "You have been in this palace for many years, do you not know the type of person she is ever since she stepped a foot in this kingdom? Today was the ceremony to honor our bravest knights. We can not afford to irritate each other because of such trifles," Taehyung said before he drank some more of his tea.

The servant looked at Taehyung with a confused expression. "What trifle? there shouldn't be such disrespect shown to you, your majesty. You are the mother of the realm, mother of all young and old. And what is she?" The servant asked in anger.

Taehyung puts his cup of tea down on the table then looks at his servant.

"Mina," Taehyung said in a warning tone. Mina lowers her head in guilt. "Sorry, your highness. I just don't like how she treated you. No one should disrespect you and that's the king's order and they don't know how kind you are," Mina apologized. Taehyung smiled for a second.

"Why don't you look outside and examine the flowers. We must control ourselves. In the palace, if we squabble over everything, How can we live our lives in peace?" Taehyung asked softly. 

"You are right, your majesty. It's just my job to serve you and protect you...You are like a mother to me..." Mina said. Taehyung opens his arm as a sign for her to hug him. Mina hugs Taehyung with a smile on her face. "Thank you, your highness. I'm grateful to be your servant," Mina said. "I'm grateful to have someone like you too," Taehyung said. The two broke the hug and then looked at each other with a smile. 

Taehyung signals the servant to stop massaging his shoulders. "You three can go, I'll take care of the rest," Taehyung said as he got up and went to see what Jeonghyun is up to.  The three servants left they were past the kitchen they saw a glips of someone smashing the plates on the floor. The three servants decided to see what's going on. 

"It's not fair how the queen gets the best of the best while the rest of us get the worse...he has been high and mighty. Every gift he gets is over a thousand ounces of gold and silver, 100x more than all of us COMBINED! HE USES GOLDEN PLATES WHILE WE SERVANTS GET WORSE. HE GETS TO SIT ON A BEAUTIFUL THRONE WHILE WE HAVE TO SIT ON WOODEN CHAIRS! THIS ISN'T FAIR!" A maid screamed.  The three servants were shocked to hear such complaints...when Taehyung wasn't in Jeongguk's life...Jeongguk has done worse. 

Mina decided to stand up for the queen. "Look here, he is our queen so that means he deserves the finest. Imagine if he wasn't here and it was only the king ruling this kingdom now, You would have chains around your neck at this point and there wouldn't be wooden chairs to sit he'll make sure you sit on the dirty floor! be grateful for what you have now because there are people out there who are suffering more than you," Mina said. 

The maid laughs at Mina's speech. "As if the king would do such thing to us...it's the queen's fault why we get nothing," The maid said.

Mina shook her head in disagreement. "Lila, don't think things will be easy when it comes to the king. You'll see his true colors one day and I'm telling you it's not pretty," Mina warned before she leaves the kitchen.
