Just a Game (Sonic.exe x Reader)

Strange things have happened

(Reader's P.O.V.)

    So... This is my new normal I guess. Unknown✦ and I talk constantly over text and the weird glitch plays videogames with me. This is a daily thing now. I've decided that the glitch is okay in my book. It does pick out good games to play, some of which are missing Sonic for some reason. I wonder if that program, Sonic.exe, is to blame for the missing Sonics. I mean, I don't mind playing as Amy or Tails, mostly Tails, but I kinda miss my blue idol. The glitch still keeps me from clicking on the exe file so I'm assuming the glitch comes from there. Is it alive somehow? It kinda feels like one of those sci-fi horror movies where the program comes to life and does some bad stuff, except this one is relatively tame compared to the movies. It just wants to play video games with me. It usually takes Sonic, so technically Sonic isn't actually missing just unplayable. In some games, he's straight up missing though, like in Sonic adventure he was replaced with Tikal's player model although the voice lines are still the same. But in the multiplayer Sonic games, the glitch always takes Sonic and leaves me with everyone else. The selection for Sonic is always grayed out. But then he shows up on my team like it's nothing. I must say the glitch's driving skill is pretty aggressive. When we play racing games, it always crashes into the other racers. I'm the exception though. It never runs into me and generally, the vehicle avoids me. Unknown✦ talks to me every time a break happens at school. When the teacher leaves the room, I get a ping. I go to lunch, I get a ping. Right now, we're at an assembly about a cyber attack that happened a few days ago. A bully who pushed me during lunch had his phone get "Exed", as the students have dubbed the weird cyber attacks. They always seem to happen to the people who are mean to me. The vultures have stopped hanging out with me because of the first one. But now, at least three other cases besides them have occurred. Which has called an assembly that I'm not paying attention to. Instead, surprise surprise, I'm talking to Unknown✦. We're talking about our favorite games and he seems to have all the same games as me. I wonder if he'd be up to do online play. "Would you mind doing online play with me after school?" I'm kinda nervous he'll say no. I'm actually starting to really like Unknown✦, even if I don't actually know his name or face. Just being able to get along with him so well makes my heart kinda fluttery. "Sure, Which game?" "This is gonna sound funny but, I'm going to let my computer glitch pick. I know it sounds bizarre but the glitch always seems to know which game I'm in the mood to play." And suddenly I don't get an immediate response. Did I say something wrong? Oh no... I frightened someone off again. Miles was the only person who wasn't frightened off by my level of weirdness. Most people, the ones not after my money, would avoid me because of my natural level of weirdness. I think they just can't handle having an exotic friendship. "Sorry about that, I had a fox in my room getting restless and I had to let him out. That actually sounds pretty cool. I hope it picks something we both can play." A smile comes onto my face and I feel a bit of relief I haven't scared my only friend away. I didn't know he had a pet. I wonder how he got it.

(Unknown✦'s P.O.V.)

    I finally found Miles and put him in his new vessel, Tails. He was shouting and cursing at me. Telling me that I better not hurt her or else. It's cute that he thinks he can hurt me with that new form of his. In the time it took me to do that I didn't notice she messaged me. Poor, (Y/N). I made her wait. "Sorry about that, I had a fox in my room getting restless and I had to let him out. That actually sounds pretty cool. I hope it picks something we both can play." I think I'll pick that racing game, She seemed to like that one. "I'll talk to you later. The fox is getting restless again."
