It was ten in the morning and the sunlight shone right through the window of the trailer in which Brianna was sleeping. The sunlight bothered her eyes, as she then turned around and tried to avoid the sunlight. After a while, she finally woke up as she rubbed her eyes and yawned, and then stood on her feet while she walked to the bathroom where she took a leak and then flushed the toilet.

She then proceeded to grab her toothbrush from the sink and gently placed toothpaste on it as she then began to brush her teeth in the most excellent way. After she was done, she washed the toothbrush as she then put it away and began to wash her mouth and face. A little later, she walked out of the bathroom as she dressed up while nicely placing her pajamas on the couch. She then walked over to a table as she then sat down on a chair while she began to look through a diary that belonged to her. A lot was written in the diary, everything from before the apocalypse until the current time.
Brianna had recorded everything that had happened in her life, which somehow helped her feel better whenever she read about the times of joy and happiness, the only distraction from the real, sad truth. She had, however, also written about moments that were not as pleasing to remember, and many of those moments were recent. One of the accounts recalls the following:

''Nicole, poor Nicole. It's the second time she's been caught in the woods, again by Adam. I think she hates him now. Wouldn't I hate him if he tried to stop me from bringing justice to those who took the lives of my loved ones? Hmm, I think I would. But I can't be hard on Adam either, after all, he is only doing what he's told by Madison. And if he doesn't obey, she'll be really angry... We've seen her anger before, that's why everyone tries to avoid it. I suppose Madison is trying to keep everyone safe, that's why she is so hostile to strangers now, like that time in Blue Mountain when she strangled that old man to the death against a tree while she made me hold his wailing wife at gunpoint. I was utterly shocked. I was lost. I didn't know what to say or do. I just stood there while I saw the poor man gasp for air, knowing that there was nothing he could do. Or I could do. The old woman didn't help the situation either, every time her tears touched the ground, a spike went right through my heart. That man and his wife didn't do anything to us. They just needed help with the man's arm. But Madison refused to listen, she refused to help. She then shot the woman in the head, looted their bags, and took what she could. We found some pictures of the old couple and then some of a young adult, we found out it was their son. Imagine if he was looking for them, believing that they were alive. What a terrible life this is.

I haven't looked at Madison the same since then, she's changed. Not for the good. She frightens me, honestly. I don't know what to expect from her anymore. She excused her actions by saying that the old couple was close to the lake, and she didn't want anybody finding it. The lake is our source of survival now, we get our water and plenty of fish from it. She sends people there every day to guard it. She's become paranoid at this point.''

Brianna then flipped the following page, and it read as follows:

''Nicole and Madison got into an argument again. Nicole wants to take revenge on the Crusaders, but Madison told her that it was too dangerous, that they didn't have enough people to fight them. Nicole said she didn't care, said she would go alone. Madison found this to be completely irrational, of course. Hector, who was the one who was encouraging Nicole to get her revenge, joined the argument as he began to argue with Madison. He accused her of many things, he mentioned some things about a hotel which I guess they were staying in and how it was her fault that it fell and so on. He said that she wasn't fit to lead them, that she was only giving a crap about herself. Madison told him that he was too weak, that he couldn't even protect his aunt and girlfriend. Which triggered Hector a lot, he became so mad that he tried to hit her but she fought back and pulled a gun on him. If it wasn't for Alicia, he would be dead. Madison then decided to banish him, telling him to leave immediately. Oddly enough, Nicole didn't join him, perhaps she thought that in the end, she would be safer if she stayed, who knows. The most surprising part was Jessie, who went with him. She didn't really say why, and she wasn't even involved in these conflicts, so it was surprising and confusing at the same time. A few weeks later, I found them in Crested Butte. Since then I've been visiting them from time to time. Nobody knows that I sneak out, and I don't want them to know.''
