October 13th, 15 years later...

Story POV

Rainbow Dash blinked open her magenta eyes. She sat up and remembered that she had school today. Rainbow was going to a new school in her new town. Rainbow Dash carefully got to her feet, being careful with her healing broken right leg, grabbed the outfit she had picked out last night and her crutches, and went to her bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. Afterwards she slipped on her clothes: a fitted white v-neck t-shirt with her symbol on it tucked into a magenta and white striped skirt with black athletic shorts underneath, a loose long sleeve blue hoodie with yellow stripes on the sleeves to hide what her shirt showed off, rainbow-colored knee-high socks, and blue and white boots. Then Rainbow put on her blue geode necklace, which she had found during early spring, and her red, yellow, and blue wristbands. Then she brushed her wavy, slightly longer than waist-length, rainbow-colored hair that had a white streak on the right side and multicolored flames flickering on the ends. Rainbow went to check on her animal friends in her bedroom: Loyal the wolf, Summer the leopard, Fiera the phoenix, and Viper the vampire python. Her horses were going to be kept at Sweet Apple Acres when they were brought here from Cloudsdale this weekend, at least until a barn and pasture could be built at Rainbow's mansion. Rainbow Dash tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before she carefully made her way downstairs on her crutches to her new house's kitchen. She said goodbye to her aunt, and grabbed an apple and her school bag on her way out the door.

Rainbow Dash's POV

Rainbow walked down the sidewalk towards her new school, putting in her earbuds to block out all noise she could hear thanks to her sharp senses, zipped up her hoodie, and pulled her hood up to cover her hair and hide her face. She was really nervous, so she wouldn't be able to hide the flames in her hair today. My powers are cool, but sometimes they can be really annoying. This town is so noisy, compared to my old one. Though my old town was nearly dead silent, I guess it's not that bad, I just have to get used to it. Rainbow Dash's thoughts faded as she reached her new school. "Wow," she said quietly, "this school is huge." Rainbow Dash took a deep breath, removed her earbuds, and walked through the front doors of Canterlot High School, flinching at all the noise.

The hallways were crowded with students trying to get to class on time. Rainbow Dash weaved carefully through the crowd, trying to avoid tripping someone with her crutches. She noticed a girl with pale yellow skin and light pink hair trying to convince a white bunny to come down from a decorative metal thing on the wall. Rainbow walked over to them pulling her hood down further over her eyes. "Angel please come down, you know you're not supposed to be seen," said the girl in a soft voice. Rainbow stopped in front of the girl. "Excuse me but do you need some help?" Rainbow asked her. The girl looked like she had seen a ghost. After a second the girl said, "I k-kind of smuggled my pet bunny, Angel, into school, but he ran off when I wasn't paying attention, and now he's stuck up there. He's also afraid of heights." Rainbow looked up towards the snow-white bunny. Rainbow carefully leaned her crutches against the wall. "Hey Angel," said Rainbow, reaching her hands out to him, "It's okay come here, I promise I'll catch you." Angel regarded her wearily before glancing at the ground then back at her. Then Angel leapt off the metal thing. "Gotcha," said Rainbow gently, catching him immediately. "There you see, sometimes you just need to make a leap of faith," said Rainbow as she turned back towards the shy girl. "Here," said Rainbow, gently handing the bunny to the girl. "Thank you," said the shy girl, "I'm Fluttershy by the way." Rainbow was about to reply when the bell rang. "Oh no, I still need to get my schedule. It was nice to meet you Fluttershy," said Rainbow grabbing her crutches, and heading towards the office.
