Chapter Five: Bloodlust and Talking To Old Friends

Story P.O.V.

       After school on Thursday Rainbow went to visit Applejack. Rainbow helped AJ with her chores, and then they went on a trail ride together. Then they went inside and decided to take showers after all the stuff they did outside. Rainbow took her shower, and then AJ took hers.

Applejack's P.O.V.

       When Applejack walked out the bathroom after her shower, she noticed a strange look in Rainbow's eye. "Hey are ya alright Sugarcube?" asked Applejack, concerned. Rainbow hesitated before shaking her head and saying, "It's nothing I'll be fine." "Are ya sure?" said Applejack, still worried. Applejack saw anger flash through Rainbow's eyes. Rainbow's hands curled into fists as she clenched her jaw and looked away. Rainbow took a deep breath before turning back in AJ's direction. The anger in her eyes had been replaced by tiredness. "I'll be okay," said Rainbow, looking towards the ground. Applejack saw the storm of emotions in Rainbow's eyes as she looked away, and realized that Rainbow wasn't telling her everything. "Dashie, look at me please," said Applejack, moving a step closer to her. Rainbow slowly raised her head to meet Applejack's gaze. Applejack saw fear, pain, concern, anger, and something she couldn't quite place in Rainbow's eyes, before all those emotions faded and were replaced by love. "Rainbow, Ah can tell you're not okay. What's goin' on?" said Applejack. Rainbow didn't respond as she looked away again. That's when Applejack noticed that Rainbow's vampire fangs were partly unsheathed so just the sharp tips were visible. Ah think Ah've figured out what her problem is. Applejack remembered what Rainbow, and her Aunt Applewood, had told her about mythical creatures, and managed to come up with some idea of what Rainbow was hiding from her.

          Applejack felt slightly guilty for how much she was pestering Rainbow while she was clearly in pain, so instead of confronting her about the issue, Applejack wrapped her arms around Rainbow and pulled her closer. "Ah didn't mean t' git so pushy, Ah'm just worried 'bout ya Sugarcube," said Applejack gently, and gave Rainbow a kiss. "I know it's just...," said Rainbow, trailing off looking worried. Applejack saw Rainbow's vampire fangs unsheathe the rest of the way as she pulled away saying, "It's not something I like to talk about or even think about." Applejack noticed that Rainbow's claws had unsheathed, her breathing had become labored, her muscles were tense, and her eyes had dilated to cat-like slits. So Ah was right, bloodlust is what she's struggling with right now. Getting a crazy, and extremely stupid, idea, Applejack moved to stand right in front of Rainbow Dash. Ah can't believe Ah'm doing this, but it's worth it if it's what Rainbow needs. Rainbow's inner conflict made it so she didn't notice as Applejack grabbed her left arm and drew one of her claws across the inside of her right wrist.

          Applejack was surprised that she only felt a small sting from the wound as blood welled up from the cut. Applejack used her thumb to wipe the blood off her wrist before running the same thumb across Rainbow's bottom lip. Rainbow licked her lips before her gaze snapped to Applejack. Well that definitely got her attention. Applejack smirked and said, "Still want to try and pretend t' be okay?" Rainbow locked gazes with her, asking, "What are you doing?" "Helping ya whether ya like it or not," said Applejack holding her injured arm out where Rainbow could see it, before moving it away from her. Rainbow's hand flashed out and seized AJ's arm in a vise-like grip. Rainbow's gaze remained locked on AJ's as she brought Applejack's wrist up to her face. Applejack's heart skipped a beat as she was caught off guard by the shockwave of pleasure that ran through her as Rainbow slowly ran her tongue over the cut on her wrist. Smirking Rainbow licked the cut again causing Applejack to gasp as pleasure shot through her again.
