The Upset

Chapter 5

I was startled awake by my brother's scream. My dad came running down the steps with a bat in hand. He looked around for the threat until his eyes landed on Sami who had a mix of sweat and tears running down his face. I hold him close to me as I repeat in his ear that I am here and alive.

I look to where my father was standing only to realize he's not there anymore. I direct my attention towards my crying brother who has a death grip on me. I hate that I'm the one that caused this. It's all because I didn't listen to him.

My dad is back but with two tubs of ice cream and three spoons. I nudge Sami to get his attention. When he looks up I have a huge smile on my face and shove the tub onto his lap.

My dad grabs the remote and sits on the chair next to the couch Sami and I are sharing. He puts on one of our favorite movies, Jurassic Park. By the end of the movie Sami and I manage to finish the whole tub. Our dad puts on the next movie and not even ten minutes into it I pass out.

I wake up to the sound of clicking. I'm about to yell at Sami to stop whatever he's doing only to realize he is still asleep. I pick my head up from Sami's lap after moving his hand off my head. I come face to face with a phone. I trace the arm holding the phone up to the person responsible for the clicking.

I scream. How did Xavier get into my house? I look around and notice almost all of the guys from the team standing in the living room. I look to where my dad was last night only to find the chair unoccupied. My scream woke up Sami I'm guessing because he was now wide awake taking in everything that was happening right now.

He wraps his arms around me protectively afraid that he was going to lose his baby sister again. I didn't even know what to do. I am in the coach's house. I was asleep on the couch with his son. Xavier has pictures of us sleeping. Xavier has pictures of us sleeping!

"Xavier I swear to god if you don't delete those pictures," I say threateningly.

"Now why would I do that. Now I know why you made the team. You are the coach's daughter."

Sami stood up from his spot making me stand up with him.

"Can you fuck off? She is my girlfriend and I do not appreciate you talking to her like that," Sami states and shoves Xavier away from me.

"Touch me again I dare you. I don't think your dad will be too pleased with you. Then again was he ever? I don't know if you ever looked at the news over the years but you're famous. Something about almost getting your sister killed? "

I punched him. My body acted on its own. Of course, my dad walks in at the wrong moment.

"What the hell is happening!?"

"Why don't you ask your son and his oh so precious girlfriend," Xavier said while holding his jaw.

"Xavier, Sami, Violet garage now!"

I already knew where this was going. This one time Sami and I got into a huge argument so our parents locked us in a room that only locked from the outside. We got so bored that we had to apologize.

We told all of our sides and then my dad told Sami he could go. I begged him to stay so I didn't have to deal with Xavier alone, but mom wanted him home anyway. My father shut the door after taking our phones and left us with our own thoughts.

Xavier started to walk around the garage. He definitely is a car guy that is for sure. I just hope he doesn't see the car I drove last night.

"What were all of you guys doing here anyway?"

"You didn't get an invite? Ha so much for being the coach's son's girlfriend."

"Are you going to tell me or just be annoying?"

"Coach wanted us to have bonding time."

"Oh."

We stayed quiet for a couple of minutes until Xavier got to my car. He appears behind the car and that's when I know he has seen the Midnight twins sticker. I couldn't help but giggle a bit from his reaction. He looks at me and waits for an answer.

"He's not my boyfriend. I'm his younger sister, Xephor Baker.

"She basically dropped off the Earth after she almost died. You are telling me that you are X.B.?"

"Isn't the car enough?"

"You are the coach's daughter?"

"The one and only."

"The boys and I were at my house when it happened. We were watching the big game, but then my dad took the remote and turned on the news. They were talking about a big wreck and how people were severely injured. Then they announced that the children of Darren Baker were a part of the accident. My dad changed it back after that, but your dad was no longer on the field."

"Yeah I remember that night way too well," I replied with a sigh.
