~I used to think I lived in the most boring neighborhood as a kid, wanting to live somewhere where exciting stuff happened. But I don't think anything could prepare me for what Zagem told me one day, It still gives me chills still thinking about it. heck, half of the time I try to convince myself that it isn't true, but no matter how hard I try, I can't convince myself otherwise. Anyways... You probably want to know what Zagem told me. Well... I remember it was an ordinary night, like usual.~

I opened the door to my room and sat down on my bed, wanting nothing more than to finish an exciting chapter in the book I'm reading. The main characters are in an intense fight with the antagonist, and in 99% certain that somebody will die at the end of it, but I won't know until I read it! I excitedly picked up the book off the floor, until I heard Zagem's voice from under the bed.

"Ah, Garret. I didn't hear you come in." He said. "Get comfortable, I have something to share with you."

I could sense the nervousness in his voice, and I immediately could tell something was wrong.

"What is it?" I said.

Zagem sighed. "I didn't want to have to tell you this... but I have no choice. I can't shield you forever."

"Zagem, what the heck are you talking about?" I said.

"I know, I know. Just let me talk and I'll explain everything. I don't know if this is true or not, but you are in grave danger. y'see, there's this dragon hunter who has the reputation of killing entire dragon clutches and my clutch is next on his hit list. What he does is kill each dragon one by one, starting with the adults, He's already got my mother. I don't think he knows about my sister or brother, but after he kills father, he's going to stop and NOTHING to find me."

"Wait, how does that put me in danger?" I asked.

"Because if he finds out that you're affiliated with me, he'll kill you. I've seen him do it before, he is a blood-lusting murder."

I was in shock, being only a kid, this was a lot to take in, Zagem didn't stop explaining.

"This is all my fault, I shouldn't have come here, but now we have to hide. That's the only way this can be solved, or killing him, but that would be suicide, and last time I checked, I would like my head to remain on." Zagem poked his head out from the bed. "We need to figure something out. We need to find a suitable place to remain, gather plenty of supplies, teach you how to hunt, and..."

I cut him off. "Hold it, I have several problems here. First of all, I doubt this guy Is going to find you here, of all places. And secondly, where the heck are you planning on taking me? and what about my parents? are they going to be okay?"

Zagem growled, more to himself than at me. "Listen, I'm figuring this all out as I go along. The best thing to do right now is to find a place to stay, perhaps a shelter of some kind. I think your parents will be okay because they don't even know they exist, but as I said before, I'm still figuring things out."

"So what do you need me for?" I asked.

"I want you to come with me, not forever. Just... Until all of this blows over. This isn't very dragonlike of me, but I really really don't want to be alone during this, this is perhaps the scariest moment in my entire life, and a week here has softened me." He chuckled nervously. "I know you can't just leave her out of the blue, but you can still be very helpful to me, plus it would be great if you could join me, garret. What do you say?"

Once again, I still was in shock over what I was hearing. When Zagem first arrived, I never thought something like this would come with it. I had no idea what to say, knowing that there was a possibility that I was in danger too, and there wasn't much I could do it.

"I can tell judging by your silence that you have no idea," Zagem said. "I'll come back and ask you later."

"Zagem wait," I said. Zagem perked up.

"I will help you. There might not be much we can do, but we'll figure out something."

Zagem smiled. "Excellent, Garret. I knew you would pull through! Now, on to more important matters, what in God's name are we going to do?"

I and Zagem spent the rest of the night brainstorming ideas on what we could do to either eliminate the dragon hunter, or potential places we could stay until he leaves. Throughout the whole night, I kept reminding Zagem that this was a dragon hunter in the twenty-first century, and every time I mentioned it, he told me that the year doesn't affect the threat he poses, And as an adult, I know now the threat he poses, And this is the reason I still shiver about this guy even to this day... But the story isn't over just yet, let me tell you about what happened the night after...
