༄
'That was quick', he thought. He had received a message from the detective he's hired saying he had found something. Nothing major, but still a lead on where to start digging. He stormed out of ArtLife's building to go to his meeting.
Serkan left the meeting feeling dizzy. The news weren't so good. They were on the right track, the man had told him, but it was a dirty track. It appears Alptekin Bolat really neglected a lot of work on his young years and it could be very possible to have had a catastrophic result in one of his projects. But the man also said another party was involved, but he didn't specify who saying he needed to confirm first. He'd have to contact his bastard of a father sooner or later, so he decided to leave him a message saying he needed to get in touch. He never called once to check on his son since he came back, not even a message. A part of him found it odd and wondered if something had happened to him, but the other and most logical part just brushed it off. After all, it wasn't the first time Alptekin neglected his family, his son. He randomly scrolled his phone and found Engin's contact. Now there's somebody that he neglected. His friend was simply looking out for him. Serkan realized he didn't wanna be like his father, he didn't wanna be an asshole to them nor push them away. So he did the first thing his heart told him to: he went to Engin's place to apologize. And maybe talk.
Meanwhile Eda gets a rather unpleasant phone call. "Babaanne?", she says shocked. It's been a while. "Edacim, I'm calling to give you one warning only," Eda was alert with that one sentence. "Tell Serkan to stop digging into our family past. I'm not saying twice." And she hung up. Eda is confused, what was that? She felt anger rising inside of her, to whom was all that anger directed? She couldn't tell. But she would take on the person that was closest. She wore the first piece of clothes she found and marched to a place she knew like home.
Serkan had sent a message to the detective, but it was after hours and the lack of reply was getting him aprehensive. Who could possibly know that he was digging into that accident? And most importantly, how would they know about his own accident, the plane crash? That message was clear as the daylight, he was being threatened. And he couldn't be tripping when he realized that whoever sent that message was implying that they were behind his plane crash. His plane crash. Sabotaged?
Serkan was walking in circles after the detective's reply. He was taking his phone to him the next morning, so they could try tracking the sender of the message. He had to interrupt this vicious cycle when somebody knocked on his door. Eda. And she did not look happy. "Eda, bak, this is not the best time..." he starts, but she storms in not caring about what he had to say at all. "You're so stubborn, Serkan. You don't learn, do you?", she looks at him, her eyes having indecipherable feelings. He couldn't tell whether she was really angry as she looked, upset as her eyes had traces of tears forming, or just emotional. Maybe she was all of them. "Eda, I don't know what you're talking about, but lütfen," he couldn't finish his sentence cause she exploded. "You used to know better Serkan, you used to be more careful! Maybe it's because you had me, you were afraid to lose me, but now you're simply careless. I told you not to dig into that, I told you to let it go!", she was yelling and the tears that were forming were now rolling over her face. "Bak, I'm not going through that again. So you will stop this investigation right now!", she finishes with a loud 'TAMAM' on his face. He didn't quite understand. "Eda, we've been through this. TWICE. I'm sorry if this investigation will reopen your wound, but I'm doing caref-" he's stopped mid-sentence again. "This is not about reliving my past, Serkan! It's about babaanne! You know what she's capable of, or at least you knew before!" What did she mean? And the fact he didn't know, or remember, her grandmother made everything more confusing to him. He had Eda's words, she told him. But he still had no memory of the woman, whatsoever. He stopped having flicks constantly, and he's been more in the dark than ever before, relying on just his sixth sense to guide him through all kinds of business. "Eda, I'm not following..." he stops, runs his hand through his hair. His semblance was tired. "You know who called me just a few minutes ago? Babaanne. She said she'd give you one warning only, you need to stop this!" She perceives he frowns, confused for a moment, and then he looks back up, his wide eyes focused on hers. "What did you say?" He walked towards her. "Eda, your grandmother called you?" His mind was connecting dots he wish it didn't. "Evet, that's what I just said," she says as if it was obvious. "What did she tell you?" He's one step closer and she has a feeling he's getting too close again. "To give you one warning and stop digging our past. Serkan, she hasn't called me for mont-" she's interrupted by Serkan repeatedly calling her name. He gets his phone and shows her the message he's received a couple of minutes ago. It couldn't be that obvious, that easy. Could it? "What is this?", her scared eyes find his. "I just received that, I sent to the detective, we're tracking the send-", he's interrupted by a loud "HAYIR". Eda is frenetically nodding her head and repeating "hayir". She couldn't believe. Actually, she couldn't believe how stupid she was. She really thought her grandmother would leave the scene so easily, would give up making her life a hellhole out of nowhere. Nah, of course she had something up. She just never thought she'd go this far. And have no shame in hiding what she's done.
