——— Mahalia's POV———
"Who that keep calling you? Answer it."
Zaire furrowed his eyebrows at me and I shrugged my shoulders in return. Truthfully, I ain't know who it was. I looked down at my phone at the unknown number that looked highly familiar. I had cut off and blocked a lot of people in the past month and I shole wasn't planning on answering it. They called about five/six times today and I kept declining it and my next step was to block them.
"Answer it, Mahalia."
He drove into the parking lot of the mall and put his car into park before turning off the engine and placing his hand on the steering wheel. I got tired of his antagonizing gaze so I gave in and clicked the green call button to answer the phone.
"Hello?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked into Zaire's eyes as we walked out of the mall. His bigger fingers interlocked between mine..I noticed the size difference. I weighed about two thirty, he was around one eighty..yet his hands swallowed mine. It had began raining and the warmth of his hand had been suddenly taken away as he grabbed the keys and took off to the car. Shortly after I was behind him, and then soon buckled into my seat.
"So much for a sunny day, huh?"
I snickered at my comment and Zaire flashed a bright smile at me. We were eating earlier so imagine the surprise on my face when I saw the same pearly whites before we had started. They looked fresh out the damn box.
"Yea, it's alright though, love. Where you wanna go next?"
"It's raining..and I do have some assignments to catch up on. I might need to go change my number also."
As soon as I picked up the phone to answer it, whoever that was that called me had hung up. It was weird and it definitely gave me the creeps but I was a bad b*tch, you couldn't kill me.
Zaire looked over at me and placed his hand on my thigh and gave it a light squeeze. I shivered at his touch but nonetheless, my expression stayed the same. So much for being just friends, right?
——— Marcus's POV ———
"Man cmon answer the damn phone, Mahalia."
I placed my head against the cold tile wall as I was sent to voicemail for the fifth damn time. After that phone call with my baby mama, some shit clicked in my head. I'm in jail, because of Mahalia. She was the only person who knew where my stash was hidden in case of emergency. How she gone rat a n*gga out like that?
"Aye, n*gga you done? Some of us got children to talk to."
I smacked my lips and hung up the phone before walking away. As if I ain't have no damn baby to talk to. I can't even see my child, let alone talk to him. N*gga gave me twenty five plus years up in here unless I could prove to them that those wasn't my drugs, which they was. I guarantee after today, I wasn't gone be in here long.
