I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed. I didn't have to get up for work early so I slept for at least twelve hours. My Dad had texted me the address to meet him so I was now getting ready. I made myself some breakfast so I was full and felt great. A bitch was feeling a lil too great that it made me uneasy but I brushed it off. I brushed my teeth after breakfast and flossed and put my outfit on.
It was a burgundy plus size off shoulder ruffle flared dress and I paired it with some boardwalk ankle-strap sandals because my feet refused to go in heels. I always put on some boy shorts under my dresses in case I bended over too far. I must admit, I cleaned up nice. After getting myself ready I sprayed on some smell good and soon I was pulling up at a bar. As soon as I stepped foot into the place, I felt overdressed. It was 9am in the morning and here people were pissy ass drunk.
I wasn't an alcoholic, I drank occasionally but mainly I smoked that kush. I saw my Dad and immediately smiled. I had not seen him in a whole two months because I was super busy with school but now that I switched them over to online I had way more freedom.
"Daddy!!" I smiled big and danced my way over to him. He had on ripped and slouchy jeans and a plain white t-shirt. I guess he wanted to get that just-off-the-beach look going. His salt and pepper locs were neatly done and he smelled so good. Daddy never wore cologne when we was with mama so I'm wondering who the hell got him wearing this shit.
"Hey, Daddy's baby! I missed you!" His bright smile and booming voice filled the room and my heart felt full again. My daddy was my rock. My backbone. My main man. And one day I hoped to give him grandchildren to love. He was so excited to meet the baby I was going to have, I was 18 at the time and fresh out of high school. Mama didn't know yet but I told Daddy because he was so non judgmental. And then the miscarriage happened.
Instead of showing how upset that got me, I kept my smile on my face because I didn't want to ruin the moment. I wanted everything to be perfect.
"You look beautiful, Mal. Me and your mama did a damn good job creating you. You look just like her, your sister, on the other hand, looks exactly like me." He laughed softly and pulled me into a tight bear hug. It lasted at least one and a half minutes before we walked to a table nearby the buffet.
"Mal, this is Monica. Monica this is my eldest daughter Mahalia." He said, his voice a little shaky. I side eyed my Daddy and he slightly dropped his head. I wasn't ready to meet a new person yet and I told him that numerous times. The lady cleared her throat and fake smiled at me. Oh hell nah, I will whoop this old hag's ass.
I smiled just as fake as she did but even bigger and faker. I shook her hand and sat next to my sister. I made sure to get a wipe from my clutch and wipe my hand off. If she wanted to be disrespectful I would show her disrespectful. Her eyes said it all. It's like she was looking at me with disgust. I turned my attention towards my eighteen-year-old sister and we began to exchange new fashion ideas.
My sister loves clothes and makeup and I loved hair and shoes. She was my twin except she looked more like Dad and I our mom. I'm so glad that I had a sister and not a brother. She was also a plus size girl but she was a tad bit shorter than I was. Our Dad was 6'2" and our mom was 4'11". We both inherited her height. I'm glad because, I wouldn't want to be knocking my head on the roof of every car door.
"You look bomb as hell, sissy." I played with her relaxed hair and smiled at the thought of her becoming natural. She would look beautiful with an afro but her hair was manageable and it touched her mid thigh.
"And you look like you just got some dick. Keyon hit that this morning?" The smirk across her face made me want to laugh out loud. Instead I giggled and told her everything that happened. My sister was a down sister and she was on go with anything. This year was her last in high school and soon she would be transferring to Heritage Hills where I attended.
