Chapter 5

"The color is Vermillion, Mr. Stranger."

Those words were etched on Ares's mind like hot rod pressed on his fresh skin. What mind game was she playing? Could she be really the notorious Vermillion?

He felt the surge of adrenaline as it pulsed right through his system. He needed answered.

He immediately went after her.  Agad siyang tumakbo palabas ng gallery. He suddenly found himself inside an empty corridor. She was gone without a trace.

He clenched his fist in frustration. Damn! Where could she be?

Galit na galit siya sa kanyang sarili. He felt duped. Nagpadala siya sa kanyang pagnanasa.

As much as he would like to deny it, his mind suddenly froze when her lips met his. He could not think straight. It was as if his killer instinct suddenly went down, it was replaced with a more primal nature, something so inherently male.

He desired her. He was put in this catatonic state that rendered him useless.

He cursed himself. Hindi naman siya dating ganito. His mission came first. No other things could derail him from his goal. He may be a hot blooded male who desired the opposite sex like a king of the jungle, but he had already perfected the art of suppressing his pent-up lust. But today was different.

That woman aroused something inside him. She flamed an extinguishable fire that outdueled his sane mind.

She was dangerous. Because right now, he was still feeling the after effects of their encounter. His cock was hard as a rock. A single kiss did that to him.

He cursed himself once more. He will see her again. The next time he did, he'll make sure that he'll get the answers he needed.

 That was a close call for Valerie. Ares nearly caught up to her. Mabuti na lamang at nakita niya ang isang fire exit.

The scene a few minutes ago was replaying in her mind.

She might have gone off board a little bit, but still, everything was falling inside her grand scheme.

Ares was fortifying his defences against Vermilion. From her sources, he and his team were taking things a notch higher. They plan to fully secure the perimeter. There were planning an ultimate defensive strategy. 

She need to confuse him, to divert his attention.

What will Ares do next knowing that someone like her just jumped inside the picture?

One possible scenario was that he will do a background check on her, to see if she really was "the" ever notorious Vermillion. But she was spot clean. She made sure of it. Alam niyang wala itong makikitang kahit na anong kahina-hinala sa kanya. The world knew her as Valerie Imperio, nothing more and certainly, nothing less.

But she knew he wouldn't stop there. If there was one thing that she was sure about Ares, it was that he was not a bone head. That man knew how to use his grey matter effectively. He'll probably think that her record was too clean. This will probably trigger something inside him to delve a little deeper. So he'll try to pursue her.

Kung ganito ang mangyayari. It will highly benefit her. His attention will be diverted from Vermilion to her. He'll try to catch her and prove that she was indeed Vermillion. So in his pursuit for offense, his defense will weaken. That's when they will strike for The Sunset Pavilion.

Or the other possible scenario was simple. He'll just completely ignore her. He just thought that she was a nuisance, some crazy little girl who just wanted to have the Prince's attention. If that happened, then they'll just proceed as planned. They'll just face him head on.
