"GODDAMMIT!!!" Taehyun threw his headset, clutching his bed-head as he tried to process what had just happened.

No matter how many times he reloaded the game, the results were the same. He had been banished from his team. He went from being the top team of the entire game, to being at the bottom.

It didnt matter if he had a high level, or great skills, it was pointless without a good team. In the game, everyone has a role, two is the limit, so individual gaming was a death wish.

Taehyun brought himself together and slid the VR headset back on, logging in and going to the player lobby.

《Player Lobby: A large garden in the center of the game where players can't attack or be attacked.》

Taehyun hesitated seeing his options, a bunch of the available individual players were level 1, rookies. The partial teams formed were all sucky.

"Isnt he the one who got kicked out of the #1 team?"

The whispers had already started, taehyun pulled up his hood and equipped his staff, opening a menu of all player profiles in the player lobby.

His eyes breezed over an extremely long username, sending a duel invite to see if he was a potential teammate.

Can't we just summon cute animals?
Has accepted your duel request.

A cloud of white feathers appeared as the player was summoned to Taehyuns location, revealing the exact image Taehyun didnt expect.

The two stared bewildered across the lobby floor at eachother. The black and white feathers contrasted and blended on the ground with the breeze.

"You invited me to a duel?" The boy spoke, smiling and standing still. Taehyun waited, but the boy didnt summon a weapon. Was he stupid?
Even if he wouldnt be a good team mate, Taehyun guessed he could easily take points from him when he beat him.

Taehyun took the first initiative, striking with a poison attack appearing as a purple cloud around the boy.

YOU CAUSED THIS ENTIRE PROBLEM!!

Taehyuns ears rang for a split second and before he knew it, the screen appeared in front of him.

Can't we just summon cute animals?
Has defeated you -100 points.

Taehyun stared at the innocent-looking boy across from him, he never even moved, how had he won? And he was a level 19???!!!  As if his day wasnt bad enough he had just lost 100 points to a rookie.

"Since I won....can I ask you something?" The unknown player asked, approaching Taehyun.

Taehyun was upset  but he was no sore loser. "Yes, go ahead."

The boy smiled and held out his hand, the hovering holographic numbers '+100' floating above it.

"Ill give these back to you if you form a team with me. Please? I think youd be a great Sorcerer/Adventurer for it!" The boy kneeled and offered the points as if he were proposing with a ring.

Taehyun covered his mouth, unable to contain his laughs. The boy seemed embarrassed, and figured he had been rejected.

"You should just send a team invite, why be so over the top about it???" Taehyun laughed so hard tears fell from his eyes. In all his time playing the game no one had asked to be a team more awkward than this boy.

"Im sorry....i understand if you dont want to." The boy stood and frowned, looking like a sad puppy in the rain.

Taehyun eyed the boy and crossed his arms with a smirk.

He beat me somehow....its potential....its not like I have much other options. Ill take what I can get.

》Moonlight Spirit accepted your team invite!

The boy leaped up with a victory fist, jumping onto Taehyuns avatar for a hug.

"I won't let you down!" The boy backed up, bowed, and gave him the 100 points back.

"So....if were building a team, then can I have something to call you? Your user is a bit long...." Taehyun sighed, staring at the username hovering.

"Ah! My name is Hueningkai. I'll be your Bard/Mystic!" Hueningkai opened his menu, and adding Taehyun to his close friends list.

"Well...I let you win for mercy this time, but i'm seriously a V.I.P player. If you want to get higher up, my first tip for our team would be recruiting more....we'll get nowhere with two players." Taehyun looked around the Player Lobby.

"Ooo! What about him?!" Hueningkai swooned over the high-level Paladin upgrading his gear in the grass. He seemed to only be 4 levels below Taehyun.

"Actually he's a really good pick, stay here." Taehyun instructed Hueningkai to wait, and went to pitch an offer. He was stopped by a notification appearing in front of him.

《Sweet Cotton Candy is set to single player game, please try communicating at a later time.》

Taehyun was upset, but couldnt help being impressed by the boys ability to get that high of a level by himself, he would definetly try again later.

"SPIRIT!!! I GOT A MEMBER!" Hueningkai ran over, giggling and clinging to a medium level archer/ranger.

Taehyun facepalmed. How had he lost to this rookie? No matter how he looked at it, he couldn't tell how he lost.

Taehyun opened the archer's profile, viewing his information and inventory.

《ArcherBin has joined your team!》

Even if their levels and skills are mediocre now.....I can train with them and level up with smaller levels....

Taehyun stared at the two for a little while before nodding. "Alright, were a team....Bin and Kai." He held out his hands to shake theirs.

Hueningkai cheered again and hugged the archer. Taehyun wasted no time selecting a mission for them to level up on.

Seeing a team name at the top of the player boards pissed him off even more, he was trying not to think about it, but it made him burn with hatred.
