Chapter Twelve

“So what’s the deal with Finn?” Kate asks Carson expectantly. As of now, the boy has just stepped into the shower, he was nice enough to let Kate and Carson take their turns to get warmed up first. She pulls a cozy blanket on top of her and faces Carson from their position on the couch.

Judging by the perplexed look on the blonde’s face, Kate would say he doesn’t exactly know what she’s talking about. Her thoughts are confirmed when Carson asks her what she means. “The photography and everything,” she explains, making a wide gesture with her hand. “He’s just so different behind the camera.”

“Oh!” Carson smiles, perking up when he can follow along with the conversation. His position on the couch is more what Kate would expect of a gossiping teenage girl because his knees are tucked underneath his body and he’s leaning towards her as if to catch a whisper. “He’s been into it ever since he was little. Finn didn’t used to be as shy when he was younger so I guess the camera sort of brings out that other side to him. Like the attention isn’t focused on him, so I guess he feels like he can be bolder because everything is concentrated on the subject of his photography. Does that make sense?” He looks up at Kate.

“It does actually.” Kate laughs lightly. “It really does.” Carson actually has answered her concerns, and he even managed to take the conversation seriously. She can kind of understand why Finn was more audacious during the shoot, she just didn’t know he could be like that. It is nice to see the other parts of his personality though.

“I’m glad,” Carson beams. “I’m really just surprised that he hasn’t told you about it yet. Or that you haven’t seen his camera lying around or something.”

“Me too,” she agrees. She had kind of been wondering about that too. Maybe they’ve only been roomies for a few months, but she does feel like that’s enough time for him to share his talents with her.

“I’ve got it!” Carson exclaims, jumping up from the couch excitedly. “How long exactly would you say that Finn has been in the shower?”

“About five minutes,” Kate says, looking weirdly at the boy in front of her.

“Alright, come here.” Carson grabs her arm, ignoring her squeal of surprise and dragging her into Finn’s room.

He stops now and begins looking around and rifling through papers laying around. “Carson,” Kate hisses, feeling as if Finn can hear them right now. “We need to leave right now! You’re totally just invading his privacy.”

“Yeah, yeah I know,” Carson says flinging an arm back and waving his hand at her dismissively. “Hey I found it!”

“Found what?” Kate asks, becoming curious and forgetting her earlier complaints.

Carson holds up a stack of pictures, ones that actually sort of look familiar to Kate. “Have you ever seen these before?”

“Yeah, I have,” she says, stepping forward to flip through a few of them. She remembers seeing them around the room multiple times, whenever she and Finn would spend time talking. She just assumed they were ones that he found online or something, as she hadn’t known about his hobby before. Carson grins at her. “Wait, did he take all of them?”
