Chapter Two

While slowly turning, Kate discovers she is not actually in her bed. Her suspicions are confirmed when she opens her eyes to find her living room ceiling above.

About ready to get up, Kate slowly realizes there is an arm wrapped comfortably around her stomach. To her left is Carson, hogging the whole blanket and snoring slightly. The arm belongs to Finn, who is sleeping to Kate’s right with a peaceful expression on his face.

Unsure of whether to go back to sleep in Finn’s arms or to get up, Kate decides on making breakfast for everyone because she really doesn’t feel that she’s known Carson and Finn quite long enough to be sleeping on the floor with them.

Somehow, while shifting about, Kate has managed to land Finn’s hand directly on her chest. Flushing and holding her breath, she quickly gets up from the floor hoping to God that Finn is still sound asleep. Luckily when she glances back, Finn is still laying on the floor, showing no signs of being awake. Though Kate can’t guarantee whether or not she’s imagining the slight grin on his face.

Sighing to herself, Kate begins to pull out a pan to cook some bacon in. As a particularly noisy bang sounds against the counter, Carson starts to mumble, “Too…loud…”

“Sorry,” she whispers to him, trying not to wake up Finn. Carson flops to the floor again and the soft snoring continues.

Just as she’s putting the noisy pan back away, Kate hears some rustling behind her. A confused looking Finn begins to stand up, “…Kate?” he says.

“We all fell asleep on the floor yesterday,” she clarifies for him, trying hard not to focus on his ruffled hair and morning voice. Though it’s hard not to imagine running her fingers through his soft hair.

“But, you don’t look tired or anything,” Finn says, taking a closer look at her.

“I’m never really affected by a hangover,” Kate admits. It’s pretty nice, she’s only ever suffered the after effects of drinking a few times. “I just thought that I’d make everyone some breakfast,” she gestures to the platter of bacon and eggs.

“Wow,” Finn says, taking in the sight of the breakfast she has cooked. “That’s really nice of you.” He walks up to the counter and takes a plate of the food before sitting down at the kitchen table to eat. As he turns around, Kate catches a whiff of his cologne and has to stop herself from leaning in to smell more.

Finn smells really good.

Like really good.

“Kate?” Finn asks.

“Hmm?” she says, snapping out of her thoughts.

“I was just asking you if we should wake up Carson now.”

Kate looks over to where Carson is on her floor. It’s kind of adorable, actually. He’s curled into a fetal position with a few locks of his blond hair falling down into his face and his mouth cracked slightly open. He begins to move though, and without opening his eyes says, “Carson’s…already…awake.”
