Chapter Seven

It’s been a few weeks since school has started, but Kate already feels like she needs a distraction. Anything at all just to get her mind off of her courses. An idea pops into her head; movie night. It’s still an early Friday evening, so she speeds over to Finn to propose her plan. He offers to get snacks and whatnot from the store, and Kate pulls out her cell to phone Alice and Carson.

Alice agrees, but once Kate warns her about Carson, she’s only coming because she gets to choose the movie.

Carson is thrilled, to say the least. He promises to bring lots of pillows and blankets, but Kate isn’t quite sure how he’ll be able to lug them all up to the apartment. He’s Carson though, he’ll find a way.

Finn later returns, with about twenty minutes to spare until their friends are expected. Kate can’t help gawk at all of the food in his arms. “You bought that much?”

“Yeah,” he says, shrugging it off like it’s normal. Which it is very much not. “Have you seen Carson eat?”

“But…” she trails off, still staring at the food. Her attention shifts though, and she catches herself staring at Finn instead of the snacks. He’s smiling happily while unloading various treats, and his arms are very easily distracting Kate as she can see his muscles shifting through his shirt.

“Can I get a little help?” he asks, snapping her out of her daze. Luckily for her, Finn doesn’t seem to notice her ogling him, so she’s safe to lend him a hand.

Finn’s bought everything from Cheetos to Skittles, and just as Kate pours the last bag into a bowl, she hears arguing outside the apartment.

“Please, dear god, shut up!” Alice. Kate knew she wouldn’t exactly get along with Carson.

“But it would be so cool if you had a white rabbit!”

“It’s a fucking name Carson, I’m not some reincarnation of Alice!”

“How do you know?”

“I just know. And everyone in Wonderland is mad you idi—What are you doing? Put my hand down.”

“No, I wanted to knock!”

“Fine. By all means, go ahead.”

Before Carson gets a chance to knock, Alice swings the door open and stomps over to Kate.

Hey! You said I could knock!” Carson pouts, setting down the massive load of blankets in his hands and retreating over towards Finn. Kate was right, he did find a way. Poor Alice, she had no idea what she was getting herself into.

“I lied,” Alice says simply, and then to Kate, “What is his bloody problem? Do you know that he ran up to me in the parking lot? I had to walk all the way up here with him and carry a shitload of pillows.” She points an accusing finger at a sheepish looking Carson. Shyly, he holds his hand up in a half-wave.
