NEW YORK WAS beautiful; the neon city skyline was dusted in a light fog and sprinkle of clouded moonlight. The moment the vibrant city lights were within sights, the pair of new adults grew even more ecstatic. Neon whites, blues, reds, and purples in specks under the coat of clouds were visible through the plane window.

George was buzzing. His smile spread deeper into every crevice of his cheeks as he looked out the small window beside him. Nick kindly gave up his window seat for the brunette, preferring to be closer to the aisle and truthfully, the toilet. Nick had a habit of anxious drinking, whether that be water or alcohol, at high altitudes or starting some new life journey and this was definitely the combination.

"I still can't believe we're going to live here," George's rich British accent flourished, still in awe as he motioned to the vibrancy below them.

"Neither, Georgie," Nick affirmed, pushing his forearm against the armrest to get a peek of their new, and permanent, destination, "Me neither,"

As the plane readied itself and its passengers to descend and touch the ground, the anticipation of truly becoming a New Yorker settled in the pit of George's stomach. This place was his new home. What else could possibly top moving to your dream location with your best friend?

George was gripping at the armrests, his knuckles white from the pressure, whilst Nick was busy securing the lid on his new, full, and open coffee cup. The man scored a final sip before the mild turbulence of the plane's wheels touching the runway occurred. He called it a personal victory that he did all that and didn't even spill a drop of the coffee on his clothes.

"Okay, we're safe," George confirmed, the sound of the seatbelt sign flickering off. He pried his hands off the hard plastic armrests and swiftly moving to unbuckle the restraint from his waist, "We're actually alive,"

"You didn't think we'd make it here in one piece?" Nick chuckled, unbuckling his own belt with his free hand and standing up to unlock their overhead baggage.

"It's not that..." George dismissed, pausing to find a conclusion or point behind his statement, "it's just that this is actually real- like you and me: here in New York! Do you know how bizarre that is?"

The pure disbelief and astonishment still fresh in George's voice made it evidently clear that he still hadn't reached the peak of sleep deprivation Nick was currently in. With a connecting flight and 8 hours of sitting in one place, all Nick felt was drowsiness. A total of 13 houses of pure stillness. George, on the other hand, couldn't be more ecstatic- pumped with adrenaline, resembling an energetic child on Christmas day.

"Well," Nick spoke groggily, pulling at their small suitcases from the compartment, "you best believe it, Georgie,"

Nick handed the smaller boy's backpack for him to sling over his shoulder, doing the same with his own. He left his coffee to sit adamantly against his seat as he fiddled with the handle of his suitcase, along with handing over George's. The piles of boarding passengers didn't make this task particularly easy.
