THE ART OF socialisation: George's greatest weakness.

This week, however, was proving to be relatively successful to him on that front. As a man in his mid-twenties and with a total of one friend before his move, George still believes that making friends nowadays should be as simple as when he was back in nursery school.

Nick found socialising too easy, George noted. George always considered it a gift and always wondered why he'd bother constantly being by his side when he had so much potential to meet and befriend so many other, far more interesting people than himself. However, Nick's loyalties were immeasurable and ran deeper than surface-level popularity.

As George was sitting here, at the burger establishment from their first night in the city, in a booth with a new friend Nick made at work and Karl from IKEA, George realised that Nick had been holding back on his sociability for his sake.

"So, George," Alex- or Quackity, as he introduced- began from opposite him, "How'd you meet Nick?"

George looked up from placing his glass on the coaster, which had that same white hand-drawn smile in the corner. George turned in Quackity's direction. Quackity was a loud character. George never knew if he mixed well with the sort, however, he had been pleasantly surprised.

Quackity, or Alex, had an aura that was welcoming, much like Nick's. Whereas in comparison, Quackity was far more enthusiastic, which George found refreshing from his intense nights that still haven't subsided even after a week of living here (not that Nick wasn't refreshing- because he was).

Quackity always wore a beanie; when George first questioned him about it, he simply responded with a stifled chuckle and the words, "Ehh, that's just how it be, Georgie," in a comedic accent and throaty rasp.

Nick even jabbed at it being a 'safety blanket' equivalent. George, although remained silent, still stands by the normalisation of safety blankets.

George swallowed his drink before continuing, "We've been close mates since... the start of secondary school, right?" George looked to Nick for confirmation, despite feeling that he had definitely answered this question before.

George spent the entire day throwing out used boxes and creating some system of organization before their furniture arrived. However, instead of indulging himself in a hard-earned alcoholic beverage like everyone else around him, he opted for a hangover-less tomorrow. He was starting to regret his choices once the group was making their way through their second round.

Nick nodded enthusiastically, the smell of alcohol lingering in his breath, "Inseparable ever since," He added with a proud smile.

"Oh, cool, cool, cool," Quackity nodded with a dazed expression, his shot glasses of tequila sitting empty on the table in front of him.
