ᴡᴏʀᴅ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛ: 4.8ᴋTHE MUSIC WAS pulsating. The sound of the rhythmic thumping drummed George's heart to a new beat. The echo of reverb bounced far more violently than the swarms of people littering the confined space.
"Dance!" The distant emcee instructed, flourishing in a tone of insincere enthusiasm. Bodies, which moved chaotically from beside George, bruised and pushed him with each energetic move like he was a pile of putty unwillingly moulded by careless toddlers.
The emcee's instructions were only deciphered by the speakers, which drummed the orders into George's body. "Are we ready to... par-tay~" The announcer enthused droningly, over the sweaty bodies and blinding pulse of strobe lights.
Their voice was followed by the instantaneous crescendo of electro-dance music until the sound of his voice was lost entirely.
The wave of crashing bodies seemed to take the emcee's enthusiasm sincerely as they amplified their collisions and danced even harder- hollers and lost sounds of hyperactive screams bounced even more violently against the limitless walls.
George struggled to differentiate the sound of his breathing from the beating of his heart, it was as if he was entirely submerged in a wave of anxiety with no way out. The rise of sweat was building from his palms and dousing his chest with stuffy humidity until it was getting increasingly harder to breathe.
With nothing but lasers of projected lights and bruising bodies colliding around him, George's first instinct was aiming to desperately break through the herd of loud dancers.
He futilely attempted barrelling his body into the unmoving dancers, trying to locate any kind of escape as he weaselled his body in any available crevice. Nonetheless, it was as if each measly attempt of striking the people around him only made him shrink in size.
If his laboured breathing wasn't enough to showcase his efforts, then the scuff marks of his trainers against the cold, dark floor should be.
"Oh my God," He whined deeply; George was feeling irritable, "Move out of my goddamn way!" He seethed through gritted teeth as he readied his tired body to give the barricade of raving bozos the greatest shove his petite figure could muster.
Unfortunately, it became apparent that he was physically inept in comparison to the ravers surrounding him. However, his jolt of concentrated energy was greater than he anticipated, resulting in George collapsing backwards.
