13. He was an angel, who only deserves the best

Louis just woke up from his nightmare filled sleep. They are a typical thing by now. Harry left him 2 and a half months ago and Louis still doesn't know, what exactly he did, that set Harry off like that. The only thing, that he knows, is that he loves Harry so much. He doesn't think, he can ever cope without the curly haired cutie. How could he? He needed him.

He walks over to turn the kettle on for a morning tea. But he was interrupted by his phone ringing. Louis contemplated to just ignore it, since it was probably just Liam or Zayn trying to get him to go out. But he did not want to worry them unnecessarily, so with a groan he moved to get his phone. But when he looked at the screen he only saw an unfamiliar number.

"Hello?", Louis asked curiously. "Hi, is this Louis?", the unfamiliar voice asked. "Yes, Louis Tomlinson. Who are you?" "I am Niall, Harry's best mate." The mention of Harry's name made Louis heart flutter. But then he got worried. Why would Harry's best friend call him? Did something happened to his Hazza? Well, he used to be his. "Whats wrong? Did something happen to Harry?", Louis immediately said.
"No, well not recently. But that's why I am calling. It's about the night he left you. I guess you still don't really know, what even happened, so I figured I should call you." Now Louis was curious. He would finally get the answer, what the hell he fucked up so bad. "Oh yea, thank you, I have been quite confused ever since." And then Niall finally started explaining everything.
"Harry left the house after your argument, to distance himself a bit. He just wanted to take a walk to get his head away from the argument. But then.." , Niall stopped talking. It was obvious, that he was scared of what comes next. Louis could tell by the way Nialls voice was wavering while talking. And then he even heard a few sobs through the phone. "What Niall? What the fuck happened?", Louis grew impatient.
"He was raped. In a corner of a street. And then he just sat there. For hours. Because he felt too numb to move." Niall was definitely crying, and Louis also had tears streaming down his face. He was so stupid. He already saw something was wrong, but just ignored it. And then started punishing him. After he was raped. What was wrong with him? "Oh my god. What did I do?", Louis exclaimed, realising he probably made everything ten times worse.
"Louis, I also know, what you did, when he came home. Please don't blame yourself, you had no idea what happened."
"But Niall, if I would have been so stupid and distance myself from him. And then we wouldn't have argued. I was the reason he went out in the first place. And then, afterwards...", Louis interrupted himself, because he started to break down completely. He already knew, he has done something wrong, but he did not expect to do something this cruel to the love of his life.
"Louis, please. Harry is going to be okay. He already goes to therapy. It's slow steps, but it's getting better. Please don't blame yourself. This is the guys fault, who took advantage of him. Only his fault.", Niall tried to assure Louis.
"Does the police know?", Louis asked quietly. "Yes, we have been to the police, they are trying to find that arsehole."

Louis and Niall kept talking a bit more. They mostly talked about Harry, and Louis might've slipped, that he loves Harry. But Niall was cool about it. He also told Louis, that Harry would probably come over soon, to get the rest of his things. Louis frowned at that. He hated the fact, that they were technically split up. Because he wanted and needed Harry. So after the phone call, Louis cried more, trying to wrap his head around the fact, that Harry would get his stuff soon, and then leave his life. Maybe even forever.
It did not work. He knew he could never get used to that. Not even to the thought of it. But Louis also knew, he had to. Because it was the right thing for Harry. Louis was an arsehole to him, regardless of the fact if he made this whole rape situation worse of not. He ignored Harry and made him feel unloved. And Harry did not deserve that. He was an angel, who only deserves the best. And that is not Louis. So he knew, he had to let him go, so the boy can be happy one day.
