Oblivion

Pinosasan ako ng dalawang lalaki. Hindi ako nakapanlaban dahil nasa gitna pa ako ng gulat sa bilis ng mga pangyayari.

"Lakad na!" utos ng isa nang tumigil ako sa harapan ni André.

Hindi ko alam kung buhay pa siya o patay na. I wanted to go down and check, but they weren't letting me go near him. Muli niya akong tinulak para maglakad papasok sa lumang hospital. They were forcefully dragging me down a long hallway until we reached a wide space in the heart of the building.

Her smiles at me were no longer as warm as I remembered. They're... sinister, or have they always been like this?

"Where's Charlotte?" I asked calmly.

Ada pouted and laughed. May nakakatawa ba sa tanong ko?

"I wouldn't tell you even if I knew where she was. It would make your life easy, and I hate that," aniya at sumenyas sa iba pang mga tauhan niya.

More men came to drag me to the center of this abandoned place. Nagpupumiglas ako pero walang nagawa sa dami at lakas nila. Sapilitan nila akong pinaupo sa plastic chair bago nila pinalibutan ng kadena ang katawan ko. Sobrang sakit ng posisyon ko ngayon sa higpit ng pagkakagapos nila sa akin. Rather than use all my energy in this futile attempt to escape, my eyes glance up at the woman behind all of this bullshit.

Nagkatinginan kami. Ada looked at me in pure adoration. Hindi ko alam kung paghanga ba ang tamang itawag sa tingin niyang 'to sa akin. No matter how hard I try to think, I couldn't have possibly thought she could be the one responsible for all of my suffering. It doesn't make sense since she doesn't have a motive to kill me. Hindi gaya ni Luisa na talagang may hinanakit sa pamilya ko.

"Where is Charlotte, Adalyn?" I asked again. "Did you do something to her?"

"Well, I don't need her after she called and brought you here. Did you expect me to let her and that old hag live? They have served their purpose well, and I don't give out unlimited mercies, Taly. I'm not a saint."

"Ano'ng ginawa mo sa kanila kung gano'n?!" tumaas boses kong hiyaw.

Sumigaw ako nang sumigaw. Alam ko na may bahid ng katotohanan ang sinabi niya. It wasn't a threat. It was simply the truth. Naubusan ako ng hangin sa kakasigaw ko. Ito lang din naman ang magagawa ko sa ngayon. I did not stop fighting to get out of this constraint. But Ada ordered her men to hold both of my shoulders to stop me from moving.

"Tell me where they are!" I yelled more. "Pakawalan mo ang mga inosenteng tao! Ako lang naman ang kailangan mo rito, hindi ba? Kaya pakawalan mo sila!"

Adalyn clicked her tongue a few times before closing the gap between us. Bumaba siya sa lebel ng mga mata ko. She squeezed my jaw and cheeks with one hand. Dumiin ang matulis niyang mga kuko sa balat ko, kaya napahiyaw ako sa sakit. Pumikit ako dahil ayaw kong makita kung gaano siya kalapit sa akin. Her breaths are touching my cheeks. That's how close she is to me.
