This one was very hard to make sense of but I think I have a pretty good concept.

Everything looks realistic, but in this reality it follows different laws of physics.

Instead of "breaking" blocks to collect them, think about separating the one block you intend on collecting from the others.

Say you are on the beach and you're just chilling. Your feet sink into the sand and nothing seems out of the ordinary; but then you decide that you want to take a block of sand with you.
In Minecraft whenever you look directly at a block , it will be outlined in a white line. In this reality, that is mimicked by a dimly lit, transparent white line that is only visible when you place your hand/tool on it.

Only you can see the highlight when your hand/tool is on the block when you want to collect it. If not, the sand will act as regular sand.

Once the block has been collected it will shrink down to comfortably fit the size of your hand and will weigh absolutely nothing.

The method to collect the block differs with the type of block and the tool you are using.

(Enchantments make it easier and faster)

   Sand/Dirt/Gravel

With shovel — jam it all the way into one side of the block and simply lift the block with the shovel.

With hand (or any other tool/item) — Push your hand into sides of the block that is connected to another. Then you simply wiggle the block free.

   Logs
(I cannot imagine any way to collect logs with your hands)

With axe — (the amount of hits it takes to chop a tree down depended on the kind of axe) Once you chop down a tree, the leaves and sticks immediately fall off and are collectible. The log must then be cut into pieces to be collected. If the log is a 4x4 you have to split them apart as well. To remove the stump from the ground, you have to use a shovel. Once it's removed the roots shrivel up into nothingness and the stump becomes an additional log.

   Planks
*one wood plank block consists of 4 planks on each side of the cube. To keep the realism, instead of a whole block wood planks will actually be four connected 5.5 inch thick wooden planks.*

With Axe — jam the axe between both the short ends of the plank and collect.
With Hands — individually separate each side of the
plank by pulling.

    Stone/Diorite/Andesite/Granite
(I cannot imagine any way to collect these blocks with your hands)
With Pickax — hit the block x amount of times to loosen it (x depends on the type of pickax) then jam it into one side and pull.
*the process of hitting a stone block to loosen it is what turns it into cobble*

     Stone Bricks
*basically three solid connected cinder blocks=one stone brick block*
*When stone brick blocks are attached, they morph into each other until they are separated again.*

With Pickax — hit the block x amount of times to loosen it (x depends on the type of pickax) then jam it into one side and pull.
