Jasmine's P.O.V

"She's awake."

I heard a voice shout while I gradually opened my eyes. I came in contact with blinding white light, which made me flinch at the sudden brightness. As my eyes eventually adjusted to the light in the room, I took in my current surroundings and tried to recall how I came here.

Oh, that's right, I was kidnapped!

There were two men in the room looking at me with wide eyes. They probably expected me to try to escape but were shocked to see that I just sat cooly on my chair.

What? I'm not going to cry over a bunch of fools who kidnapped me- I have much better things to worry about.

Seeing that the two men were still looking at me like I had grown horns, I decided to start the conversation.

"So if you boys are planning on asking for ransom you might as well kill me now because you won't get a single penny from my parents. In fact, my mother would be more than happy to pay you to kill me." I spoke with so much faith in my mother.

One of them seemed to unfreeze and slowly nudged the other.

"Call boss and tell him she's awake." the first one said.

"Okay," The second one took out his phone and dialled a number and kept the phone in his ear.

"Umm boss the girl you told us to watch over is...umm awake what should we do with her?" he asked.

These guys were clearly wasting all of our time. The 'boss' spoke to him for a few minutes, probably giving instructions to torture me.

"Okay boss we'll bring her there."

So I was being shifted.

"You're seriously wasting time. You could kidnap someone who would actually pay you. I have a stable balance in my account, but I don't think that would be enough for you. So, in the end, you'd only end up facing the wrath of my best friend." I warned.

"Shut up! Now get up and come with us." The first guy said as he removed the rope that tied my hands.

Suddenly they put a black hood over my face so that I can't see where they were taking me.

The second one seemed to be more friendly. He came and stood beside me and held my hand gently to direct me, making sure I don't trip.

"We haven't kidnapped you for ransom miss. Sorry for my friend's behaviour though he's having a bad day."

Wait, they didn't kidnap me for money? Then what could they want from a 22-year-old nobody?

I was puzzled at this when a thought struck me.

It couldn't be. She was cruel but not heartless, right? My mother couldn't possibly try to make me marry someone by kidnapping me. She wasn't capable of something like that.

But was I sure? I didn't think until today that she would almost sell her daughter to a stranger. So what's to say she wouldn't do this?

I chuckled dryly at the thought. At this point, I am trying to convince myself that she isn't able to do something so cruel. But who am I kidding? That women made it her life mission to ruin me.

I was pushed forward and made to sit on a chair. Right now, I don't care whether it was my mother; I never have. If it really is my mother, then this time she won. She made it clear that she despises me to the extent of doing something so vicious. That she is filled with venom. My hopes that maybe someday we would be at least civil with each other someday are crushed.
