The coast is clear

The word of Lindsey and Kristen divorcing had just gotten out. Just to stop any rumors from spreading they had made an announcement. While Christine had looked somewhat knowingly when Lindsey had dropped the bomb, Mick and John were confused. While Stevie...

Stevie had gotten up from where she had been sitting, and left without a word. Nobody had known what to make out of her hasty exit. The way she had acted during the show had not only caused some raised eyebrows among their fans, but also among her band mates. They hadn't seen her so distant from Lindsey this much anymore since five years ago. And everybody knew that Unleashed had been hell of everyone involved because of their distance. They had both avoided each other, and seeing as Stevie had done the same during the show that night, they all feared the worst. Hopefully she would do something to relax during the days they had off.

"Are you ready to leave?"

Karen came into the room the next morning, already having packed everything. Stevie had told her last night before the show that she would change the hotel yet again.

She couldn't stay in the same building as Lindsey right now. She had no idea what he was thinking right now, or if he was thinking at all. Stevie doubted it. First he had dared to confront her about her private life. And now he was telling he and Kristen had filed for divorce. What the hell was wrong with this man?

"I'm good to go."

Stevie came out of the bedroom, Sulamith following her, before she picked her dog up.

They had just left Stevie's suite when they ran into Mick.

"I thought you were over that."

"I'm not leaving cause I'm avoiding a certain someone. I just need some...

"Privacy?" Mick asked, in a suggestive way.

"No, I'm leaving because of this." She replied and turned around, storming down the hallway.

"What's gotten into her?" He wanted to know from Karen.

"I don't know." She answered with a shrug of her shoulders.

And then she hurried to follow Stevie. She didn't know what had gotten into her boss lately, but she had been having the unfortunate luck to see exactly who was getting into her. But knowing Stevie, Karen would take that secret into her grave as well.

The way Stevie was still glaring when they had arrived at the other hotel let Karen know that she was still angry. Only that she really had no idea at whom. Right now there were various options.

"How long do you know Mick now?" Karen asked, trying to find out what really was on Stevie's mind.

"I don't care that I know he just does this to tease." She answered. "I'm sick and tired of being surrounded by self righteous assholes who think it's perfectly fine when they fly in wives and girlfriends for no other reason than the obvious. But when I do the exact same thing it's a big thing. Didn't I get a memo that we're back in the 1950s? I thought it was 2014. So what's the fucking deal?"

"Nothing." Karen replied.

"And what the hell is wrong with Lindsey?" Stevie finally voiced what she had thought about since last night. "All of sudden he's woken up and thought that this isn't what he wants?"

"You're the specialist when it comes to Buckingham."

"Just because I sleep with him for the last forty plus years doesn't make me understand this guy. We both knew what last year was about. I don't expect anything from him anymore. But obviously he can't deal with it."

Knowing better as to remind her about Las Vegas last year, Karen kept quiet. She had seen just how well Stevie could deal with letting Lindsey go back to his wife. She might be right when saying she didn't expect Lindsey to do anything about this situation, but it didn't mean that maybe Stevie hadn't had some tiny bit of hope.

Not getting an answer from her assistant, she made her way into the bedroom. Mick had been right, she wanted to have some privacy. And before he had been that clear about what she might do, Stevie hadn't even thought about flying him in again. But on the other, what had she to lose?

Not caring what Karen might think, she reached for her purse, searching for her phone. It was true, she still didn't really use it. But it came handy when planning her little get togethers. Flipping through the contacts she found who she was looking for.

"Stevie?"

He sounded surprised. No wonder, they had last met only two weeks ago. And this wasn't anywhere close to when she usually would call again.

"Yeah, hey."

"Is everything okay?"

"The boys annoy me till no end."

"And now you need some stress relief." He laughed.

"I'm in Vancouver, the next show is in a couple of days. So..." She nervously bit her lip.

"Do you think that's a good idea?"

He was worried. Not really because of that they had caught the last time he had been around. It was more because he had seen that while Stevie might have tried to act as if it hadn't gotten to her, it had.

"I'm not in the same hotel as everybody." She explained. "So the cost is clear. Though if you can't make it over, it's okay."

"Did I ever let you down?"

Stevie had to laugh at this. Not matter that they were not involved romantically in any way, he told the truth. When she had called he was there, not only when she needed the benefits, but also when she had just needed a friend a few times.

"Never." She shook her head. "You let me know when you're here?"

"I will."

Doesn't look too well for a certain Mr. Buckingham right now, does it? We'll see where this may head... Should I run now? Xoxo, Dani
