Before Lindsey had time to react, she was already. Her arms came around his neck, pulling herself close as she kissed him, deeply. What he would have never thought was that after she had nearly attacked him, Stevie would pull back again after a short while. She did, but only to let herself fall back to lie on the couch. Holding out her hands, she silently waited until he might reach for them. But he didn't.
“Lindsey.“
Her expression got darker as she was still waiting for him to come to her.
“Yes dear?”
“I thought I told you to kiss me?”
“I did.” He tried to keep from smiling when seeing her frustration grow.
“You didn't.” Stevie shook her head at him, beginning to glare. “Now kiss me.”
“Then come here.” He motioned for her to get up.
“No.”
“Why not?”
Stevie began to seriously pout. And right then and there it was hard to keep up to act and not give in, and reach for the hands she still held out for him to take. He knew that as soon as he would, she was going to pull him down.
“Because I waited long enough for you already.” She replied. And then she brought her hands back, crossing her arms in front of her chest “I'm done waiting for you tonight.”
“Is that so?” Lindsey asked, knowing perfectly well that she was only playing with him.
“If I were you, I'd not push my luck too much anymore.” She warned, now sending a death glare in his direction.
“I'm not pushing my luck.” He laughed.
“Please tell me why you might think so.” Now Stevie was curious. He had done nothing else than teasing and making her wait tonight. How he thought he might be getting out of this situation was something she was dying to know.
“Because I have something for you from which I'm pretty sure that you want to have it.”
She rolled her eyes at the obvious suggestive tone in his voice.
“You're so damn sure of yourself aren't you, Buckingham?” She asked herself if he would ever really grow up. “What makes you think that I'm never able to resist you and your charms?”
“First I know you for a very long time now, Miss Nicks.” Lindsey made sure to emphasize her name. “And second, why are you so sure that I was talking about my charm?”
“What were you talking about instead?” She wanted to know, finally sitting back up, knowing that she wouldn't get what she wanted for some time.
“Maybe I was talking about your Christmas present.” He suggested.
For a few seconds Stevie looked at him, staring at him as if she wasn't too sure if he was trying to kid her now, or if he was serious about what he had said. But after reminding herself who she was talking to, Stevie couldn't stop laughing anymore.
“My Christmas present?” She broke down in a fit of giggles. “Your present for me?”
Lindsey waited until she had calmed herself again, but it took some time. Every time Stevie had calmed down as much as that she was able to stop for some time, all it took was looking at him again to break down laughing again. He had never been good making presents. She vividly remembered a day when he had asked for her help, only to have the door closed right in front of him again.
“Are you done laughing now?” Lindsey asked when she had finally calmed down completely.
“I'm sorry.” She sat back up, still smiling. “But I know you for so long now, and you've never been good when it came to presents.”
“Maybe I learned a thing or two?” He challenged her.
“Maybe.” Stevie smiled softly, shrugging her shoulders. “But that can wait. Come with me.”
She pulled him after her as she walked through the room, blowing out the candles. “I think I haven given you a proper tour.”
With that she pulled him out of the living room and through the short hallway.
“So you already know the living room and kitchen...” She turned around, gesturing back to where they had come from. “But the most important room you haven't seen so far.”
“You always made sure I wouldn't come close to it.” Lindsey told her.
It was true. He hadn't been at her condo often, only two or three times. If they had met, before the tour last year, they had done so mostly at her big house. The condo was Stevie's refuge, a place where she could retreat to, knowing that nothing and no one would interrupt her if she needed time alone.
“I make sure that nearly nobody comes close to my bedroom.” She reminded him. “But how did you know I meant that?”
“You couldn't probably mean the bathroom.” He raised an eyebrow at her questioning expression.
“You haven't seen my shower so far, obviously.” Stevie laughed, knowing that he couldn't care less about that. “It's pretty fabulous. It's sparkling.”
“Oh god.”
Not taking notice of his muttered response, Stevie continued her way. And just as he had guessed, she lead him into her bedroom.
“It's too late now, but you can see some pretty amazing sunsets from here.” She sat down on the edge of the bed.
Still she had to let go of his hand. But it was why he sat down next to her without thinking, or waiting for an invitation.
“And since you didn't bring me in here to watch the sun set?” Lindsey turned to her, watching as she was just smiling contentedly. “Why are we here?”
“You still owe me a kiss, you know?” She replied, still staring off into space.
Sorry, real life once more caught up with me. Maybe I'll post another one later today. Xoxo
