Today was a good day. Beside Harvey and I's little event in the storage room which destroyed me for the rest of the day, it was all good.
I sat there fiddling with my pencil, waiting for the bell to ring. My physics class was dragging on so much. It was hell. I sat and fiddled for 10 minutes before the bell rang. I shot out of my seat and walked straight towards the door, eagerly trying to get out as soon as possible. I carried on to my tutor to see Harvey & Lacey waiting for me.
"Where's Aaron?" I asked.
"Oh he had to go to medical because he burnt himself in chemistry, stupid boy," Lacey replied.
"Ah I see, what a surprise." Harvey was looking at me but I couldn't bring myself to look back otherwise you know what would happen. Lacey looked at us both and smiled. We walked into our tutor room and waited for Sir to take the register. The 10 minutes went fast and before you knew it, everyone was walking out of the door, ending their school day.
I waited for Harvey who was supposedly walking home with me today. I looked around for him for a bit until I saw him quickly walk around the corner, as if he was rushing. He walked over to me and looked at me.
"You ready to go?" He asked.
"Yeah sure," I replied with a smile.
We took a slow walk out of the school doors until we got to a small park not far from my house. We parked ourselves on a little bench and sat in peaceful silence for a while.
"I love parks," I spoke out.
"Do you?"
"Yeah, I really do. I remember when I was little, I used to go to the park all the time back at our old house, plus I was super good at all these obstacles they have in them," I said, sounding proud of myself.
"Oh really? Prove it, go walk on that super thin plank over there, without falling," He said grinning. I simply nodded and off I went. I steadily put one foot on the slim wooden plank and pushed myself up, wobbling a little. I raised my eyebrows at him as he watched me start. I replaced my other foot with my first one and made my way across it. As I came to the end, it got thinner and I couldn't steady myself. I started to struggle and Harvey's eyes widened largely as he shot over and grabbed my hand, steadying me.
"Oh God, I thought I was going to die then, thank you, my saviour," I joked, he smiled. I hopped off of the plank & straightened myself up. His hand was still around mine. I liked that, it was warm and fairly big, bigger than mine. I turned my body to face his and I stood right in front of him, resting my tired head on his chest. His chest reminded me of the awfully uncomfortable sofa beds that my best friends used to make me sleep on at a sleepover, but I didn't mind it.
"It's getting late, we should head home now," I spoke quietly.
"Good idea little one."
We started to walk, my hand still in his. The sky was turning dark and the wind started to blow. A storm great. British weather is nasty as hell. I huddled closer to Harvey as we walked, trying to gain some warmth. It wasn't long before we were at my house. I looked up to him and smiled. It wasn't just a smile though. It was a smile that I had never smiled before. A smile that actually showed that I was happy. He leant down and kissed me on the lips, I deepened, knowing that I shouldn't.
"I'll call you later." I said and walked to my front door. He nodded and turned away. I pulled out my keys and pushed them into the slim keyhole in the door. I entered and I heard a noise. It sounded like sobbing. I walked into the front hall and into the living room. There she was, crying. Her knees pulled to her chest and her hands over her face. I heard loud music coming from Amy's room. What was going on?
"Mom? What's wrong?" I asked worryingly.
"He's back Dylan."
"Who's back?" I replied, wiping her tears away.
"Your dad."
